Now that's a man who loves his shoes! Viberg says this is an E width so I'm surprised you didn't find it very wide, they were a little too roomy for me. But your passion really comes through in this video, it was a delight to watch :)

I had purchased this boot from eBay, a year ago, for a little under $300. Practically new. Really lucked out. One of my coolest boots ever!! Would prefer the low-profile lug sole however. The Dainite sole does shit during icy or snowy weather.

100% agree about the commando sole. Had 2 pairs of boots break at the front because the rubber is too subtle.

William Irani Thanks for confirming this, William. Mine Split between the edge and sole stitch. I love them, but only 2 months in, and will have to resole. Vibergs have been bulletproof so far

While I agree with your take that they are fantastic boots, and much heavier than other boots, but a couple of notes that you have to take into account. The Viberg last is an E width (verified through manufacturer), and the stitch down welt makes it very difficult to resole. Your choice on Alden versus Viberg, but while well made it isn’t perfect.

Thursday boots sells a boot (Vanguard French Roast Service boot) that is very comparable to this Viberg boot, and cost $265.00.

James- Given the price difference, I’m very curious to see them in the flesh, so will be stopping by their NYC showroom at some point. From their site, They seem to be a design firm that contracts out production, and uses slightly different materials and construction, so it will be interesting to check out the value proposition. awesome review! I was just wondering, do Viberg still release a perforated capped toe version of these 2030 brown cxl boots? I've seen some pictures of it online and I'm guessing it's on a very limited release as with any other Viberg boot. Absolutely love this video review!

Marc Possoff In my experience, it’s more durable. Viberg also does a great job attaching the sole to the midsole, so you don’t have separation over time.

jansen melo Thanks. To be honest, I’m not certain. I’d say probably the same or 1/2 size smaller. I would check with viberg. They’ll know, and you might save shipping back a return. New Vibergs in the mail, so I’ll have a new video up next week. Take care

What about the inside is it all leather lined? I have a pair of Viberg shell cordovan boots they are all leather lined. Not sure if the service boots are please let me know...Thanks

Dig the videos. Would you say the 2030 last is similar to Alden's Tru Balance last in terms of fit? You mentioned the Barrie last, but i've often read that the Barrie and Tru Balance last are similar. How wide is the toe box on the 2030? Just curious if it can accomodate my oddly shaped feet.

CarlspacklerJr Thanks very much, Carl. I have oddly shaped feet also! My 2nd toe is long, so I’m often wearing a half size big from fear of bumping the toe as the boot ages. Not a problem with the 2030. Toe box is not overly wide, though the chromexcel leathers are forgiving- you would get some stretch. I’m just alternating the 2 pairs I have every day, and have to say I’m really pleased so far. Solid product, and will do an update a year out. Take Care!

Thanks for the reply. My left pinky toe is usually the offending digit so I’ve been looking at E widths to prevent blisters. My Alden Indy’s are an 8.5D and I get chafing. I was looking at the Viberg Boondocker boot which I believe uses a wider last but if the 2030 is generous enough I may have to check it out

Is it structured or unstructured toe? Which one is better

Unstructured. From what I’ve seen, the unstructured collapses a little over time, and I like the look. Currently having these resoled by Brian the Bootmaker, so they’ll be completely different soon. I’ll make a video once I get them. Take care, Chaled.
