This video is dedicated to my amazing Virginian Mezzo. I created this exercise for her and it helped all my students. Hopefully it can help you too!

I took a lesson with John today and it really cleared things up. It felt strange at first but once we managed to separate the falsetto, my voice was free. Taking this lesson also helps me to understand his videos better, which is one big advantage.

Excellent explanation and demonstration! This exercise brought my voice back to life and doing it constantly helps you improve strenght and power in most healthy way you can imagine. Includes everything what classical singer should do everyday for keeping vocal cords and muscles (TA&CT) in perfect shape! Thank you for sharing your knowledge🙏

JP, this explanation is incredible! It proved to be a real break-through for me in my understanding of how to facilitate a smooth vibrato.

This is gold!!!! Anw, after spending 1-2 months with A LOT of Falsetto, one day I just realised I am able to reach A4 without much tension (be4 that I am stuck at G4 for months). The falsetto is also more open. I also kinda 'sense' the vibrato while playing around with falsetto.

As always, clear theory followed by a great demonstration. Good stuff!!

Awesome! If someone is starting to mix, how would one reverse that and build in a more chest dominant sound?

If the registers are separate it is almost impossible to mix so the emphasis should be on making sure the registers stay separate.
