Glad I saw this before buying. They are very good for turning a counter or table into a big practice pad, but they remove most of the definition from cymbal strokes and don't reduce drum volume by much.

The only marching sticks they fit on are Vic Firth Thom Hannum sticks

Have these, they work perfect for anyone wondering if they should get them. But, other than my usual drum kit, I'm in marching band, and I use Vic Firth Ralph Hardimann Corpmaster sticks, and the tips will not fit over those. If you're in marching band, they won't fit on your sticks

Yeah, vic firth advertises that they work on almost any kit and concert stick.

What would you think about using these on like the Roland SPD with gum rubber pads to save the pads from wear?

I've seen these before and I knew what the they did and stuff but after watching you play drums with them...oh man I need to buy me some! I love the sound it puts on the toms and it kinda expands the way you think when playing with them on the kit because you can make cool grooves that build up on a cymbals as a fill which is way different then anything I've seen before. Anyways, great review and I hope that made sense.

Vic Firth now makes these in a larger size specifically for marching sticks. They are red and should fit the Ralph Hardimon sticks.

these things are so good for marching sticks, marching drummers beat their drums a lot harder than almost all kit players and it’s so nice not leaving HUGE marks on everything

I agree these are good but nobody else has pointed this so far (idk if it's just me) but these make your sticks vibrate a lot. My wrists actually ended up hurting after a while. So personally i'd rather have a small practice pad, idk if feels like they're damaging my wrists :/

+Lucas Bruno The "Extreme" series is just a half inch longer than the standard size. So extreme 5A's are 16.5 inches long and 5A's are just 16 inches long.

I don't think you should have any issue with nylon tips. I'm not positive though. I think the only sticks they don't fit are marching sticks.

Do you think these tips will be enough to mute my drumset? I need to mute it, because my neighbours are complaining, but i really don't want to..

I think it will really mute the cymbal volume, but I don't think you'll get the drum volume down too much unfortunately.

Do you have tips for strengthening your weak hand? When i try to go fast with my left hand my wrist shakes way more than my right hand and sometimes my forearm tenses up

@@tristanfox872 The sound from the table is the point, what other sound could you be talking about? The surface you play on is generating/is the source of the vast majority of the sound created, not the sound that the sticks make in and of themselves. Practice tips seemed just as loud as the regular tips to me or close to it and since the pitch is lower that tip sound would penetrate thru walls to a greater degree generating more noise complaints. Also the inherent lack of height adjustment from using the tips, which the practice pad stand setup provides, needs to be considered. It can often be difficult to find a stable surface with the correct height for ergonomics and “correct” form. The practice tips seem to only be an advantage when traveling or away from home and for relatively short periods of time as stick balance and feel is affected by both increased front of center weight and increased tip diameter among other factors.
