New generations are cool to see at shows, especially when they are kids of us old guys. I was at a Reel Big Fish / Aquabats show and we had a 10 year old crowd surfing on a blow up pizza and everyone was super chill amd cool and made sure he didn't fall down or anything. I dont get gate keeping in music.

As much as I agree with Vic in regards to the platform discovery thing, I just think that there's a difference between someone hearing a small part of a song, running with it and calling themselves fans, versus someone that actually puts in the effort to take that snippet, find the song and fully immerse themselves into that bands music. Those are the types of people that usually exist, especially on Tiktok in terms of music. Secondly, Finn's point about MTV was a useless argument. For the most part, MTV was the ONLY way for people to discover new music. Tiktok wasn't even a thought back then and we could see and hear more of the song from it instead of, say, 15-30 second snippets of the same repeated part of a song.

Eu conheci o PTV a alguns meses por uma tradução do ttk da A Match Into Water, simplesmente me apaixonei pela música, procurei outras músicas da banda, e afirmo que não teve nenhuma que eu não gostei (claro, tenho minhas favoritas, I don't care if you're contagious, hell above, caraphernelia, One hundred sleepless nights, etc). Procurei sobre os membros da banda, e vi que são super carismáticos, se importam com seus fãs, e foi ai que me apaixonei de vez por essa maravilha que é Pierce the Veil. Acho que foi umas das melhores coisas da minha vida, ter entrado no tiktok aquele dia, e olha que nem sou muito de mexer nele. Obrigado PTV, um fã recente seu, do Brasil! 💖

I dont believe everyone who calls out fans of PTV for finding them on TikTok are arguing only that logic. Rewind back to a small video you made addressing artists who get discovered by a TikTok trend, go see that artists show and only know one verse of one song, then stare awkwardly and silently for the rest of the show (being that they didn't just leave right after anyway.) Everyone absolutely can do whatever the hell they want, but I understand both sides. If someone doesn't want to explore an artists catalog beyond the one song they care about, it's their choice, but if I were the artist, part of me would be puzzled by those fans.
