Get rid of one of their castles? You do realise the monarchy doesn't actually own them right? The Royal palaces are the property of the nation, and are managed by the government. In the same way as the president doesn't actually own the Whitehouse, the monarchy doesn't actually own Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle is almost a thousand years old, and is an important part of british heritage and is open to the public and receives millions of tourists every year. It basically pays for itself

The british empire doesn't exist anymore, those countries are all independent. Every country in the commonwealth is there VOLUNTARILY. Its not an empire, the members can leave any time they want. The members all CHOSE to be part of the commonwealth. Those countries all are fully self-governing, they just chose to be in the commonwealth which gives them a family of trading partners.
