@@steezgeneral7715 Australia has a huge drift scene, illegal drag racing scene and a massive underground skid scene. That's what he meant; you get it all in one spot here in Oz. The skid culture, both legal and illegal in huge here. The Summernats has the most competitive burnout comp in the world. There is big money up for grabs, but more importantly a lot of pride is on the line. Fast cars and burnouts have been a part of the Australian culture for decades. Almost a right of passage to becoming a man... VICE should deff do a bit on the Aussie car scene. I'd love to show them around the scene, introduce them to the main players and take them around to the workshops that make it all happen by building the cars for the big money players

Valerie Ball buy a car that's simple to repair and something you wouldn't be scared of breaking. buy simple tools such as wrenches and ratcheting wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, etc. if you want to make your life easier, you might want to invest in pneumatic tools. do your own maintenance by googling how to do them and looking at schematics (buy a Hayes Auto Repair Manual for your car,) know your car from the inside and out and don't be afraid to ask another person in the car scene questions. we're usually very helpful people and we understand that you have to start somewhere. you could get very valuable tips depending on who you ask. p.s. older cars tend to be simpler. anything from 2010+ and you can bet that they'd be really complicated (tons of electronics, sensors, etc.). if you're just starting out and want to learn, get something around the 2000s or below. something like a 92 civ or a 99 BMW 3-series (if you have the cash.) Pontiac Sunfires/Chevrolet Cavaliers are some of the simplest cars that I've worked on.

I personally think people who are talking shit about this series because the host doesn't know about cars need to take a step back and look at what this is doing for the community of car enthusiasts, it's exposure, if they had some know it all mechanic doing this it wouldn't appeal to the average vice viewer, he asked the questions 90% of the audience would and that's what I think is so cool about this series, and why I want more of it.

trust me, i cringe when i hear fast and furious comments and comparisons. he said "hit the mainstream" as in the average person who had no idea what drifting was, had been introduced to the best motorsport ever ha (imo, but for real for real its an amazing sport, hobby or whatever). basically just saying it was an eye opener to a broad audience. and the host is perfect in my opinion. hes one more person to add to that list of humans who had no clue about the sport or the community behind it. this dude got to see the best side of drifting, getting together with friends and random strangers with common interests that ultimately become instant friends and commemorate. the average man or woman can learn a few things by staying a weekend at one of these events, being a "drifter'' lmao" or not, youd leave a changed person in a good way. sorry for the rant youtube experts haha. i hate all of you idiots anyways, idk why i waste my breath, my keyboard warrior breathing fingers will roast you on the interwebs

Mitch Hulleman what? No ones drifts a 64 mustang, also how old a car is doesn't make it a collectible, it depends on the year, how many were made, color, and importance. If their was 2 mil mustangs made in 64 but 500k made in 65, 65 is more collectible because their was a lot less. Do you know what drift tax is? And how the Nissan 240sx is sky rocking up on price because of it becoming a harder car to find?

Preferred Drift so something like a Cadillac from the 20's isn't a collectable? Ken block drifts a 64 tho. No I don't know what drift tax is. Actually drifting started getting momentum in 2003 with the Formula Drift/Formula D events here in the US.

All fan boy stuff (which I own still). The drift scene was still very grassroots till Formula D came to the states thanks to Ryan Sage, and then he launched Formula Drift in 2004 which had increased the popularity of drifting tenfold almost every year since. I remember pre 2003 99% of all events were in parking lots, and before that around 1998 we'd flood parking lots to get the car to slide easier oh yeah, and a SR20 front clip was only like $850 bucks.

I hope you did justice to the drifting culture, it's really fun and exciting to participate in and watch on a track. I've been pretty alright with the series so far, and I hope for the best!

Justas šilkus that's what makes this series so great. for the people who don't know much about it. these drifters and racers aren't going to be coming here to watch this. this was aimed at the perfect audience. sounds like you're a little salty you're not in the hosts position

I just don't like the fact that there is such a heavy emphasis on having big smoke, a lot of smaller wheel base cars can't really compete in a pro level anymore in small light weight cars like they used too but it keeps the spectators more interested.

Mike McNamee even there. To fully build an engine it cost like 3-8k at the most. Then turbo/ecu/mounts/suspension not more than 10k

T1GR3S13 I'm with you, it's probably 10k to turbo charge it and I doubt he spent 40k in suspension parts and shit

@mcnameeman
@mcnameeman 7 жыл бұрын
T1GR3S13 that's not the point if you're a car guy or not the fact that he didn't state what kind of mods he had in the car we will never truly know the total value of mods he's added into the car, mods can vary in prices as well as maintaince and other costs to replace parts. Also I'm a car guy so people saying 50k worth of mods into a car sounds normal, plus you have to take into account that buying stuff in Canada isn't cheap like the U.S or Europe, the tax in Canada is expensive as hell.

Drifting here in America was known here for quite some time. It’s been here since the first drift cars that people drifted in Japan came here. It was made cool by movies that’s true but the scene has always been here.
