Indonesia is in the midst of a culture war over what it means to be Muslim, and few battlegrounds are more intensely debated than polygamy. As much as 86 percent of Indonesian Muslims disagree with the practice, but a new wave of modern, techy conservatives are pushing the practice to the front of the national conversation- and forcing this Muslim-majority nation to confront some tough questions in the process.
VICE meets Riski Ramdani, a man who is seen as the modern face of polygamy and goes inside the fight to mainstream Indonesia’s most-controversial union.
