+SlightlyVisible there were problems during the aparteid years but the country was stable, safe, and the economy was good, and the infrastructure was being improved and maintained. if you do some reading you will find that even Time magazine reported in the 1960's that black families were starting to get ahead, buy their own vehicles, and make a decent living. Apareid was not a good system, but I think had there been more time for a smooth transition to a government that is not completely corrupt, the country would have been much better off. I was born in South Africa and my family moved in the year 2000. There isn't a single person from family and friends that live there that I know, that hasn't been murdered, attacked, robbed, or raped. It's a real bad situation :(

Not true, the whites made South Africa one of the nicest places to live in all of Africa, which is why so many Africans wanted to migrate there. Now that the Blacks run things it is collapsing. Face the fact that blacks are simply not good at running large scale modern societies. It is no one's fault it is just an accident of evolution. The African environment selected for men with physical strength, large penises, and artful displays of macho aggression and virility. I have lived here for 21 years, and I know white people who got raped and fled to other countries, I also know black people who got raped and couldn't do anything because they have no money to flee to another country. I don’t think they defunded the police force. The documentary said that after the apartheid occurred they gave positions to unqualified Individuals who never received proper training. The US is vastly different then what is being depicted here. Americans want to defund Police and reallocate that funds toward programs that will in turn produced law biding citizens. Ex. Give more money to social services Ex. Create community centers where youth are properly mentored and taught trades Ex. Put back money into the education system which has been defunded for years. ect. ect. Who knows if it’ll work as planned, but we damn sure should try. (coming from a fellow American)

Why are we comparing our current situation to apartheid. Apartheid was a regime based on racial discrimination and oppression. The problems that face our country are completely different. Corruption, economic instability due to mismanagement and a lazy workforce, crime etc. Life was NOT better under apartheid. Has it gotten better since then? Yes, in terms of the problem of racial discrimination. No in terms of the reasons listed above. The comparison is a futile exercise. (Unless by bringing back apartheid, suddenly and magically the country will become a better place to live in). This is a complex matter that cannot be simply described in terms of apartheid vs post-apartheid. Rather we should focus on fixing the problems that are here today. Leave apartheid where it is. Dead and buried. The future is all that matters.

The problem is that although under apartheid the government was racist they where efficient and could maintain a proper infrastructure as well as have more adept police/defense force, the new government hired black people over white people in name of equality, if you hire a unqualafied black person for the sole reason of being black it will lead to problems. The infrastructure and police strenght under the new government has dropped and the official are often not as qualafied as they should be.
