That interview at the end was the most important part of the video. Him recognizing none of this is promised and he still has to earn it shows he can be even better then we imagine.

I was worried about his height causing injuries based on every 7 foot 3 plus player in nba history being injury prone in the past but looking at his bone structure, it looks much more normal than previous 7 foot 3 plus players in nba history, plus he moves more like a normal human than them, he is just much more athletic than they are. I think humans are just getting taller in general and thats why we see so many more players in general who can move so well at their size. Like the amount of players who can move so well even at 6 foot 9 or taller are much more common than they used to be.

It all adds up. Plus, he is not a leaper, he doesn't really put a lot of stress on his knees or ankles.

He looks like a super tall wing the way he moves on the perimeter. He is a one of a kind player. I like to see Wenbanyama have a long career in NBA. When I think of injuries to tall players like him, I remember Porzingis who is a 7 footer that came back from ACL injury and still playing well today.

Should’ve been more clear. Meant more heavy weight training, for hypetrophy. But it was mentioned at some point that he’s not doing much more than body weight stuff at least until recently. Which I think is good for someone who is so large and could still be growing!

What's fascinating is that his such a mold breaker that it's very hard to project what he could be. We are all looking for patterns comparing guys to current or past players, and originally he was described as Rudy with a 3pt shot. But now he looks like much more, and it's hard to properly articulate what a guy so long could do with a Durant like skillset.

@@vibrantstar2879 Okay, first off, Bol has not been "balling out" hes got a pretty average starter stat line. This is the big difference, its taken Bol all these years to develop because before he was a flashy liability. Bol is on a great projection to be a quality starter BUT Vic is going to transform a lottery franchise INSTANTLY. That is the huge difference.

@@hyogomarume8345 ideal twin towers. Bam guarding pick and rolls/pick and pops. Vic staying home to swat shots. On offense, Vic spaces the floor (pick and pops for 3?) while Bam can pass. Both are lob threats. ... might be the second best fit in the league for Vic (also having Jimmy Butler/Kyle Lowry as vets and Tyler Herro who can really shoot/score). ... best fit would be in Memphis. Ja/Vic??? Put BOTH those guys on the all-time NBA Mount Rushmore. lol. Jaren/Vic would be an illegal big man combo. Desmond Bane would be WIDE OPEN and complete a TERRIFYING Fab Four. Almost worth it for my Memphis Grizzlies to tank! haha. In a less-ideal scenario, Vic gets the ball in non-optimized spots and his usage rate gets to high. Fouls too much on defense... gets picked on. Develops bad habits with worse shot selection.

Probably will take that into account and manage his body for longevity. In the video he mentions the amount of care going into injury prevention. I am sure any team that gets him will do everything in their power to make sure he plays a long career. Its very lazy to "predict" injuries since for the most part they could happen at anytime so when it eventually does happen you get a bunch of people who say "told you so" which is crazy hater behavior. I wouldn't suggest doing the same with wemby
@markyacoubian1911
@markyacoubian1911 Жыл бұрын
Ironically, I was thinking about his build and a comp, and you brought him up in the video (lol). Vic's build actually reminds me of a 7'5 version of Penny Hardaway. Just long, lanky, wiry, athletic... maybe not AS explosive as Jordan or LeBron. Probably SMOOTH... and that leads to people thinking that Wemby is faster/bouncier/more explosive than you think. In his highlights, Wemby looks REALLY fluid. Which is a plus. Don't seem him as the next Kareem/Wilt/Hakeem/Shaq... maybe a 7'5 version of PRIME Bill Walton... and that is STILL one heck of a player... probably in that top 25 to top 50 range ALL TIME (but that is probably his ABSOLUTE upside). Downsides: he takes a bunch of shots. Does he fall in love with the jumper/3 ball? And, he is a tier below the Kevin Durant's of the world... and probably 2 or 2.5 tiers below guys like Steph. And, if he isn't great at defending the pick and roll then he might end up being a foul machine in the regular season -- and POTENTIALLY someone who gets played off/game-planned off the court in the playoffs. ... I actually think that he needs to play with a GREAT point guard (Ja Morant?) in order to get anything more than 80% to 85% of his potential. THEN you are talking about a guy with multiple DPOY's/MVP's/Finals MVP awards.

How ? He’s taller than majority of the NBA already and has a longer wingspan than most aswell. Meaning he can shoot over anyone.
@adamzerner5208
@adamzerner5208 Жыл бұрын
@@l9nz998 Because of how skinny he is. I haven't done any formal research but my instinct is that those types of players don't reach a high ceiling on offense. They have trouble getting all the way to the rim. They're not quick or strong enough to beat their man cleanly and get high quality looks. They're relegated to shooting over guys which might get you good offense but not great top 10 player type of offense.
@justlikebasketball445
@justlikebasketball445 Жыл бұрын
How ? Can shoot the outside shot, be the role man in pick n roll situations, Elite lob threat. Can get to the rim in 1 dribble & if he has to he can create his own shot. His weakness is his game back to the basket but that’s something he can improve on & it’s not like he’s going to take the shots at a high volume. Just needs it against certain mismatches.
@kyriedrew1516
@kyriedrew1516 Жыл бұрын
@@adamzerner5208 I mean do you know who Kevin Durant is ? Do you know he's one of (if not the best) the best scorer of all time ? He has a skinny frame and he has never really put on some weight, he then had to keep shooting over guys and had to be efficient while doing it to be one of the best scorer ever; which is exactly what he's done and keeps doing. This season alone he shoots at 56% from the field which is better than giannis (55.3%) and Embiid (54.8%) although they are more physical than him. On the scoring end Victor Wembanyama is a taller Kevin Durant, I don't see a world where he won't be one of (if not the best) the best scorers of the nba; and maybe of all time.
