I would add: make sure your battalions are outfitted the way you want them well before you go to war. It takes them a long time to adjust to the new equipment and during this period they will suffer a debuff. You won't be slick switching to more expensive guns right before the battle starts, you will be nerfing your troops.

Also a neat loophole I found: you usually can't demobilize troops during war, but if you fire a general his troops get instantly garrisoned and don't cost anymore money

Unproductive trade routes not always means you have to cancel them. Especially If the given trade route imports crucial goods to your economy. It simply shows after the tarifs the trade center generates profit or loss. Some loss is acceptable as long as the other trade routes are generating profit. It's all about pops working in the trade center. In case of overall negative income you can always subsidise the building if your budget is healthy enough.

2:45 I would argue that its even more important not to mobilize your troops too late. I did the mistake of underestimating an enemy by taking my time mobilizing but then I forgot that I need to send my troops to the front which is 60 days away from my army's home. Needless to say, despite fighting a vastly inferior army, my army took way too long to get to the front that the front itself (which was a treaty port) was lost so my army wasted time and money getting there then returning. Now I had to do Naval Invasion to regain my front. All in all I wasted a good part of a year getting my army there at which I point I lost 25 war effort simply from hemorrhaging money

You can force them to back down way more easily if you mobilize early, sometimes saving you the cost of the war entirely.

Biggest mistake was to start a war in Victoria 3.

Mention 6:09 the battalions are lighting up somewhat if you hover the cursor over it. This is a sign that the battalions are hyperlinks. If you left click on these then the information screen jumps to the barracks screen 6:43 the battalion belongs to. I have kept the battalion view open during battles and saw the the battle mechanism in Vic3 works in it's basic the same as in HoI4. Battalions leave the battlefield (and spare their remaining troops) if their morale has dropped to level 0, as in HoI4.

I dont get this game. I used Obligations that I got on Prussia to sway them to my side in war against Denmark (I'm Sweden) and they just abandon me before the war started. What is the point of having these obligations when ally country wont even honor them?
