+Jhon Astete There's something called editing. A film can be 'one take' but actually be comprised of multiple takes that start and end at a point where it can be easily merged with the other footage.

watch it with the english sub titles turned off to really get victoria's POV experience. i watched it that way by accident the first time. mind blowing!

The film was shot in a single long take by Sturla Brandth Grøvlen [de] from about 4:30 AM to 7:00 AM on 27 April 2014 in the Kreuzberg and Mitte neighborhoods. The script consisted of twelve pages, with most of the dialogue being improvised.

i watched this entire movie unaware there was a subtitle option...i don't speak german. It provided the same type of suspense that I imagine the main character, Victoria, might have experienced. Even though I didn't understand the German dialogue, I would recommend watching it without the subtitles.

I'm glad I didn't see the trailer, or at least didn't remember it. The description on KZfaq kinda spoiled it too tho. I wish I could have gone in completely blind but it was still an amazing experience.

Let's face it guys - this is one of the best movies made in Germany EVER. The shit being popular in cinema starring M'Barek & Co. is NOTHING compared to this masterpiece. Actors, camera, score, story,... I advise you NOT to watch any trailers or read anything about the movie after you've seen it.

I watched this film for the first time without subtitles and I have to suggest trying it. It was the biggest rollercoaster ever as I only understood what was said in english leaving me just as lost and confused to what was happening as the titular character as she got more and more involved as the movie rolled on. I was on the edge of my seat throughout

The best movie I'v seen in the past 10 years and I'v seen a lot . Everyone in this world should be seeing it. I just cried for a few days in a row after it. America has great cinema, but they will never ever be able to make things like this (or Tony Erdman) , because the European culture is more gentle and open. Grounded. Different.

I'm watching this right now and wow it's soo good, especially the first hour! The interactions between the characters felt really authentic, reminded me in some ways of blue is the warmest colour, and that soundtrack! :D

one take on the third attempt. Truly amazing. Improvisation and the lead is so strong with her subtext in acting terms. Best thing I've watched on Netflix for some time, except The End of The F****** World. Great movie but yes, the trailer shatters the experience.

This film is amazing I saw the first screening of it where the director spoke about making it and he said it took 3 full tries before it was perfect. You would expect the whole one take thing to take away from the plot but it was beautifully scripted and filmed.

The budget permitted only three attempts at the one-take version. According to Schipper, the first attempt was dull because the actors were too cautious, being afraid to make mistakes; the second attempt was the opposite, as the actors went “crazy”. Schipper says he became “angry” and “terrified” after seeing the second take and realizing he had only one chance left; in a subsequent meeting, he gave the cast a “hairdryer speech ... [it] was not a meeting that ended in hugs and 'good talk.' It was crazy. But the tension was built on knowing we wanted the same thing”. Schipper believes the final attempt was successful because there was an element of “aggression” missing from the other versions. Just check out director's passion hat's off
