Meet Victoria, the 1989 Ford Cab Over Engine truck. Ross makes a proper introduction, shows you around this cool old truck, and replaces the ratty bench seat with low profile leather bucket seats.

On the Ford cab overs I had a '66, 534 gas, and a '74 225 Cat, when tilting the cab,(after making sure the stuff on the shelf was removed), I would do the middle /ring finger split. I put the pointer and middle finger in the top secondary latch handle, and the ring/ pinky in the bottom one, then pull both together. To me this made tilting the cab much easier. The access door in the floor, was a battery access on the gas versions. I loved these cabs. Mack had a model using this cab , for a few years too.

Thanks, Phil, I'll give that a try! I love this cab style so much that I've been on the hunt for another C8000 (with the diesel) and we just found one. I hope to have some new video of that pick-up trip in a few weeks. BTW - a good note about checking the shelf! I've dumped stuff off there a few times myself. :-)

I have a 85 C700, it has the 8.2 Detroit Diesel (no turbo) with a 5 speed manual. I had to redo the clutch hydraulics was all rusted. It was a PG&E truck, and aged out of service, has only 90k miles on it. I like the looks of the truck, but they key to me is it has std 10 bolt 22.5 wheels/tires, instead of dayton or widow makers, like my 72 Chevy C50. I sat a long time, just drove it recently. btw, not a fan of fake patina, but look forward to your future videos. My tilt latches are really hard to open, I noticed someone added something to help pull those handles with a lever. Also the hood latch seems your is missing the pin that fits into the latch to keep it from closing, mine has a bendy thing with the pin that you bend out to get the pin out and then you can pivot the latch to close it. You can see the hole in yours but no pin.

Interesting Channel. thank you. It struck me that road salt would be common where this truck came from, but they would not be putting down road stripes in the winter. My guess is it sat in a barn or shed until the resurfacing was done in the spring, and the striping finished before winter. Hence, no wheel well rust. I like your creative ideas: Vintage Route 66 Tour buses, Farm "hay ride" trucks, Bus-to-RV conversions, and all sorts of great project ideas. Take care.

Hello, Nice COE. I have the same truck (82) C-800 with the 8.2 big gm diesel :-) First thing i did was put some 94 f-250 buckets in it .I swapped the 5spd for the Allison 525. I love the truck but its got an Eaton 667 2 spa big rear with the suicide wheels on it. Wanna just swap out for F-350 axcles next. I thought they stopped making this body style of the code in 84? Again, nice truck. They haven't caught on yet, but they will. -Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for saving the COE Ford C series YES such a long successful Truck line for Ford without much change to CAB style. The Fire Department I was a Explorer first, then Volunteer for, had those C Ford's one was a neat looking Rescue Rig. Big Gas engine's. This was the 70s. Myself Now your age got a 71 SeaGrave for Restoration. My Power is a 8-71 Detroit with a manual 5 speed Spicer transmission. The thing about your C Ford is in it's working life as a Painting truck. Just a lot of slower speed forward, so there was NOT the salt corrosion from say the Government dump types that spreed that stuff in road clearing of snow. Just painting traffic lines on Roads, so in my Humble opinion, your C Ford did NOT get the wear and tear as other Government Trucks in Government use. Just slower speeds LOTS of idol time on engine. That Allison Tranny was made for that type of work. Lots of Garbage Truck have those tranny's. Good luck and happy travels with her. YES I did redo my Driver's seat. What was neat on my Fire Engine, the seat cover just had two clips to pull up on, seat cover came right off. The passage side just needed to have bolts re-screwed on rear to bulk head. Just like your's it was only Drivers seat that was really bad.

Its insane to me that those door badges are the same (or close) to the ones on the hood of our 69 F250. Ford really recycled parts onto there commercial lines. For example, the used the steering wheel off the 99-04 super duty for another DECADE on the econoline.

Thanks for the video Ross.. love a cab over.. looks like the turbo cat 3208, do you know what the horsepower rating is? They had 225, 250 all the way up to 300.. the 300hp model was usually mated to a ZF trans. Love the sound of the 3208, you will have to give us a startup video.. along with some of the other videos.. thanks..

I used to work on these 40 years ago. Does it have what I call the mystery shifter? When the shift linkages got so worn that you could have it in any gear and there would be excessive movement , enough for another shift pattern.😀

I agree. Then the created rust propagates. Mother nature along with man-made assist can give you enough of that. I don't know why you would want to add rust to a survivor. I saw a vintage truck the guy went bonkers with the sander and it looked camo and very unnatural. I think it ruined it. This one looks somewhat more natural (except the back of the cab), but I would not have done that.

No disrespect intended sir, but in my opinion, there is enough real rust in the world. Patina is just patina, but fake patina is just fake. No matter how great it looks now, it will look better painted. Especially a non-DOT-vehicle colour. My opinion means nothing. Great truck sir, you have good taste. Thanks for sharing.
@LisaMedeiros-tr2lz
@LisaMedeiros-tr2lz Жыл бұрын
Your opinion means a lot, especially because I share it. If the paint was in pretty decent shape, then a restore with some paint would make it the bomb. Not a fan of the "road worn" anything.

This is idiotic. There's so few decent, non rusty trucks left, and you took a good clean one and intentionally ruined it. Why? If that's what you wanted, there's plenty of rusty stuff already out there. The clean ones need to be saved. This video is depressing.
@RollingLiving
@RollingLiving 2 жыл бұрын
It's not ruined...it's loved. We are on a farm, after all, so the farm truck theme fits. And we love it. I think that's what matters, with our truck. :-) I might, though, keep the second one we just bought shiny. Just so we're not depressing...
