Having a play with some gel plate printing and thought I'd share the results 🥰

Gel Plate Recipe
Ingredients
375ml glycerine
1/2 cup cold water
115g powdered gelatin (any supermarket)
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Materials Measuring cup Spirit level Flat tray for pouring gel into Large bowl for mixing Spatula Newspaper
1. Level base tray using spirit level
2. Place 12 cup cold water into a bowl
3. Pour about half the glycerine into the water, then stir to mix slowly trying to avoid bubbles
4.Sprinkle gelatin powder into water
5. Using a spatula, mix and squish the gelatin lumps -slowly
6. Add the hot water and continue to sir slowly
7. Once the crystals have dissolved add the remaining glycerine. Stir slowly
8. Carefully pour into tray 9. Use newspaper to skim the surface to remove bubbles
Leave for 1-2 hours until set then move to fridge and leave overnight to fully set
Store in a sealed container sandwidched between plastic/ acetate/ perspex etc to keep from warping.
Waterbased ink dries quickly on the gel plates so oil based inks (with water clean up)are best.
Vegetable oil can be used to clean the plates if needed
The plates wil last for months! lf plates are damaged, they can be remelted in a microwave and re-poured into a base tray again
