Having a play with some gel plate printing and thought I'd share the results 🥰
I have turned them into digitals. If you would like them, you can find them here saraleeartanddesign.etsy.com/...

Gel Plate Recipe
Ingredients
375ml glycerine
1/2 cup cold water
115g powdered gelatin (any supermarket)
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Materials Measuring cup Spirit level Flat tray for pouring gel into Large bowl for mixing Spatula Newspaper
1. Level base tray using spirit level
2. Place 12 cup cold water into a bowl
3. Pour about half the glycerine into the water, then stir to mix slowly trying to avoid bubbles
4.Sprinkle gelatin powder into water
5. Using a spatula, mix and squish the gelatin lumps -slowly
6. Add the hot water and continue to sir slowly
7. Once the crystals have dissolved add the remaining glycerine. Stir slowly
8. Carefully pour into tray 9. Use newspaper to skim the surface to remove bubbles
Leave for 1-2 hours until set then move to fridge and leave overnight to fully set
Store in a sealed container sandwidched between plastic/ acetate/ perspex etc to keep from warping.
Waterbased ink dries quickly on the gel plates so oil based inks (with water clean up)are best.
Vegetable oil can be used to clean the plates if needed
The plates wil last for months! lf plates are damaged, they can be remelted in a microwave and re-poured into a base tray again

Those are really lovely. I will forgive you for not filming it since I know you're going to do another for us. (See what I did there? Heh heh.) I especially like the first one you showed and the one you said was your favorite. I love my gel plate, too, and am sad that my paints are the cheapest I could get. I want to get some nice, fluid ones, so if you have any recommendations for paint quality/brands/etc., include that in any video you do, please. I love the stencil you used in the bottom left corner of that first one - kind of a brocade. I need to rummage through my box o' stencils and see if I have that one. Otherwise, it's off to buy more stencils I go! (Poor hubby. Thinks I have enough supplies. Bless.)

Aaw thank you! 😊💛🌼 all of my stencils are just from Temu, and very cheap so hubby m8ght forgive you 🤣 I use cheap paint too, I very rarely use fluid paint. I will show you in the tutorial. So your paints should work fine! I often use liquitex which is reasonable priced in nz, and also Reeves which is even cheaper. In these ones I used chromacryl student acrylic. Any paint will work, it's just how you mix the colours and apply the layers! I will explain this in the tutorial 💛💛💛

@@sara-leearmstrong5009 I think the thing that made me hesitant to use the paint I have is a tactile thing. I couldn't take the feel of it on my fingers. But...I did mix a little Vaseline and water and spread it on the prints with a sponge brush and that helped. Silly tactile issues always get in the way of my fun-time! I'm thinking I could probably get around it by using some kind of extender, even mixing in some gel medium, but I would have to do it for all the colors and that's not going to happen. Really looking forward to your tutorial!

Can you recommend a particular gel plate or size needed? I would like to get one so I’m ready when you do these videos. And recommendations for a grayer as well? If that what you use.

Hi 😊 I use gel plates by "Gelli Arts" I would recommend a size at least A4/9x12. This allows me to have a full A4 page, which I can then fold in half for my A5 journals. But it does depend on the journal size you make. As for the brayer, any will do, it's just important that it spins/rolls easily and freely, and is not stiff 😊💛

I truly love your work and am excited about the upcoming video of gel printing. But, just a critique that I say completely out of love…please, please, try to consciously limit the “umm’s” when you’re speaking. You probably don’t notice them, but as a listener hears the first few, then that’s all we hear. I want you to be successful so I’m only saying this to help your channel grow and you be successful. I really don’t say this to be ugly, but to be helpful. ❤❤❤

Funny you should say this. I am very conscious of it and have tried to control it. Unfortunately I have social anxiety. Filming tutorials is really hard for me, very much out of my comfort zone, I only do it because I like to share my work and ideas to inspire others. I will continue to try, but I feel my anxiety is why I do this as I'm so nervous thinking about what I am saying, how I am saying it and if it will be judged that the ums just pop in there. Seriously, you wouldn't want to be in my brain when I'm trying to speak! I appreciate your feedback and will continue to try to limit my ums 💛
@laneyno8
@laneyno8 Ай бұрын
@@sara-leearmstrong5009 then since you do notice them, I’m sure as you practice you will improve. I’m in for the long haul and I will do my best not to hear them since you are so anxious about speaking. I’m just thankful that with your anxiety you are still willing to share your work. That has to be incredibly hard. I appreciate you. Much love and it will get easier🥰
