I bought one of these, and in my opinion this is the BEST option for reloading/converting Berdan to Boxer that is out there! However, i do it slightly differently to the instructions. I drill completely through the case and primer, thus removing the Berdan anvil and then re-drill the existing primer (which is still in the pocket) very slightly larger. I then use my RCBS primer pocket swager to swage it to EXACTLY the right size to accept the correct Boxer primer. Thus, the old primer becomes a shim for the new primer. I also then either use Loctite (permanent) or superglue as a double-check that the "shim" wont come out again. But, i gotta say...this is the CHEAPEST and BEST conversion method that i have found yet. Thanks, guys!

Mind you, on the Berdan cases where the primer sizes are very close to Boxer, maybe the official way to drill them is best, as long as no "shim" is needed. I havent tried those yet. I only tried .303 and 7.62x54R Berdan cases so far. This will be a GREAT way to save and re-use all those Swiss cases!

@@englishrupe01 berdan 303 used Kynock #126 primers, .250 OD, .205 ID. that is almost perfect for a large rifle boxer pocket OD of .2085-.2100

There's also an extra large that was used by ely on the british 303. It's about 1/4 inch.

This is what I have been looking for. I got put down for saving all my cases, but I know I'd find something to use so I could reload them thank you. Will I need the little rings for .223?

the sleeves are $15/100, I might as well buy boxer brass at that point

if you are that cheap you can make your own out of some copper tubing like the ammo channel did. but keep in mind it is a permanent modification to the case. so if you properly anneal and neck size not FL and otherwise care for your cases you can get 10-20 firings from your brass.

@Ryan Ripley I swear it's a myth, I've had more destroyed cases from factory brass than reloads

You can also swage copper tube in there as well. There's a video out there by ammosmith or ammoman, the name I don't recall.

So what size shim is needed for what size of berdan primer pocket? The website just says that the shim sizes are small, large, and extra large. I'm assuming that the extra large is for the largest berdan pocket (0.256" in diameter), but what size are the small and large for?

I would imagine that the small is for reloadable 5.56 and the large for maybe the 7.62x39 and the GP11 7.5x55 Swiss ammo......? Would be nice to be sure though....Sharpshooter? Personally, i just drill straight through, though, and then switch drills to just larger than the sides of the cap that is still there and use that as a sleeve instead. Saves the need for sleeves. These are well worth having in your kit though as one set works in all your dies. Are you using these already?

I would deprime one of yours and then measure the pocket with calipers....otherwise any advice here may be wrong for yours

@@humansvd3269 When I go to their site it does not show up in the drop down menus. However, when you use search "MILITARY CASE RELOADER" the kits and primer sleeves show up. I bet their webmaster forgot to add them them to the menu after enabling them.

It's Hornady, not Hornaday. Even Hornady pronounces it the right way.
