This whole video definitely seems like a Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton filming Cleopatra reference (romance between them and lots of fighting). And the fact that she donated money for animals and conservation efforts is incredible.

This song might just be one of the most devastating Taylor has written, she’s in a relationship that she knows isn’t going to work out so all she asks is that when he does eventually leave, he’ll remember her the way she’ll remember him - I feel like because it’s a relatively upbeat song it’s easy to overlook how sad it is until you actually listen to the lyrics

I think this might be one of my favourite Taylor videos. The concept, the cinematography, the storytelling… it really is criminally underrated

Taylor also donated all of the proceeds from the video to the African Parks Foundation. Also also, Taylor's brunette character was inspired by her grandmother, Marjorie Finlay. I dont know why, there is just something about this music video that makes me want to watch it on a loop. The combination of the storyline and the cinematography is so captivating and it's the only TS video that's ever brought me to tears. It's so beautiful and sad all at once.

idk if anyone has said this already, but this video (more specifically the relationship between the characters in it) is thought to have been inspired by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor which wld also explain the old Hollywood feel you said you found. their relationship was very prominent in Hollywood and they were quite know for their big fights on film sets. Taylor has also mentioned them before, most notably in her song 'Ready for It' with the lyric "Burton to this Taylor"

Cinematic masterpiece! That has always been my opinion.

I always took that set in the studio to mean they (as characters) weren’t actually in Africa-it was a dream all along, vivid imagination filling a painted backdrop with life. The scenes that don’t show lights or other film props I think are the real moments between them, not for the movie? Maybe you also came to that conclusion and I missed it. (I have a fever. I told you to take care of yourself and then *I* got sick 😂) I love watching your videos. Just delightful. Gives me a whole new appreciation for the MVs. Does that make you the MVP? (A dad joke of my own, courtesy of my fever, haha) Have you seen any of the music videos for Lover? Because I love those a lot. It’s my favorite album (unpopular opinion). I don’t remember any… (my daughter’s favorite is “Me!” but I like “Lover”. We both enjoy “You Need to Calm Down” though-she especially like the behind the scenes on that. I don’t think they’re anywhere near Taylor’s most popular, though…)

The Astro scene is a fixed tripod with your iso around 1500, with the LOWEST aperture. Your Exposure time will be roughly 30-40 seconds and your interval set to 1 minute. You then point your lens at the North star. and let the camera to its thing. Usually i use an intervalometer to help out. make it a breeze. its with you get into equatorial mounts and star trackers when stuff gets messy... or fun :)

I just realized that everything shot in Africa was the "Wildest Dreams" because in the end, it's just background like the old films.

Im from South Africa and this was shot in Botswana (our neighbouring country) , it’s actually really easy to shoot these shots with the animals when you’re here, they probably went on a safari drive in a game reserve that has these animals, there are people in these reserves that knows where the animals usually are during certain parts of the day, they probably went on a safari to find these animals and shoot them while they are in their natural habitat just doing what they do…. The lion shot is definitely fake (both of them), they would never allow lions to come close to people except when they’re in cages. The zebra and giraffe shots is also fake, I’ve seen zebras and giraffes and they would never be that cooperative for a shoot, they run away when they just hear the slightest noise.
