yo I just saw this theory on twitter remember the house at music video of Lover, every room there represents her all albums, folklore and evermore are the middle rooms and there is the door at the middle bottom which is included at the end of Willow MV telling the door part of the house is the next album after evermore Please react to Lover MV so you understand what I'm saying

I have to disagree with Ashley's interpretation that this song and video are about Taylor chasing a boy. The lyric is "life is a willow and it bent right to your wind." I interpret that as life leading Taylor to him, not her changing herself in order to be with him. She's not bending to his wind, life is. The whole video kind of seems like Taylor just living her life, and following this string in the meantime, which eventually leads her to her man, similar to the concept of Invisible String. But that's just my interpretation! Love this video!

I agree with you! And it's a reference to invisible string, which is not about chasing a boy either. Life is leading her to him, in a natural way. But a great reaction and it's always fun to hear how others think!

I think you're right, plus there's a natural kind of give and take on both sides necessary for any relationship to work. You see that kind of back and forth in the "movie" that if you follow the golden string, like the yellow brick road in the "wizard of oz," you might eventually find out that you've been in Kansas all along and any of those who love you or whom you love is much closer to you than you might think. Truth or real love is like gold. It neither rusts nor tarnishes, but you can have it if you follow or bend to what it represents, even if the journey that involves giving and taking, where you might have to dive into the water for the hand you can see but can't touch until the end, takes you all the way back to the place you began.

the ending could be a reference to her song Daylight from Lover album, "step into the daylight" and shout out to Jordan for understanding immediately what the glass box symbolizes. I saw another reactor thought the guy was toxic for keeping Taylor inside lmao

It's also referencing Tayvoodoo, a term stan Swifties on IG and Twitter and have coined since reputation where they theorize Taylor possessing supernatural powers against those who detracted from her or try to talk bad about her. There's an accurate Urban Dictionary definition of the word.

i think the string is his story with this boy, the box scene is like "I like you but im not ready yet" then in the witch scene where the boy appeared as one of the witch is that "Im always here for you, and i'll always support you" and in the last scene where the end of the string is the boy standing in the other aide of the room is that this boy wait for taylor for a long time just to be her man , dk HAHAHA peacee ✌🏼

I don’t think she’s chasing him. He just happens to be where she is at anyway, but it’s not working out so she is looking for another way. Like he s always there and yet she still decides to leave and go to the new place. She doesn’t stay altho he s there. and in the end she ends up where she started at herself. and then she sees him

I just realized this after watching your reactions. *The ending scene is similar when they were children/seven with the tent. I'm guessing that the tent was put up. And the guy returned to the same room where he vanished. And Taylor was looking for him until the end.* I'm so bad at this. Hahaha. Love you and your girl! ❤️ Merry Christmas!

thanks for talking about the pimple and scab before the video, i was eating a banana and almost choked on it hahaha ANYWAY, my first thought during the witch scene was it gave me Reputation vibes. "their burning all of the witches even if you aren't one" from I Did Something Bad and then how she was the leader like the "fake model friend pack" like in the LWYMMD music video. maybe this scene shows her rep era, how she got wrapped into dealing with all that and when she saw the golden string, it was a reminder that Joe was still there (which he WAS when the character took the face mask off, maybe resembling Joe at her Rep tour that we see in the Americana documentary). when she came out of the piano and saw him. (reminded me of last song on rep NYD which was all piano and about him.) when they walked into the daylight together it felt like she went into the Lover era with him because that's one of the song titles to that album. I feel like the "portal" as you call it is her being a musician, doing her thing. when she came out of the piano/portal, he was there. she came back home to him. I feel like the entire portal was how the relationship was where the media affected it, the simpleness/innocense with the kids, then there were challenges and she went into rep era, came out and into lover era
