After Happy Console Gamer released a video about collecting, I decided to do a video response. In this video I'll discuss my evolution of my collection. The highs and lows. Along with many changes. Other channels that have inspired me as well.

Glad you enjoyed it I am going to still do it. I've been working on a few things and wanted this to be one of the first videos that I do. I like that you said you pretty much have collected what you needed from the retro era as far as video games. This was fun going back on my 8 year journey of collecting.

Nice response and interesting to hear how your collecting has evolved. Like you I started getting rid of stuff and thinking more carefully about my collection, so that I try to keep only the decent stuff!

I find now that I've gotten older my video game collecting goals have changed a lot since i first got into video game collecting in the mid 2000's. I'm a lot more picky about what I collect because it has to be something that I'm going to play and appreciate. I got wrapped into the aspect of trying to collect as much as I could back in the early days of collecting and I'm very happy with what my collecting goals are. I only buy maybe less than 6 video games a year. I'm more focused on playing and completing what I already own and even though I spend more time playing retro games then current ones I'm a lot more comfortable with my video game hobby and I'm enjoying it a lot more now then what I ever did in the past. I've stopped wasting all this time hunting for games, and I'm spending a lot more time playing them. I think deep down in my gaming life that is what truly matters.

Totally understand the picky aspect. In the beginning I would grab any and everything. Now I may look on my wish list or hold a game and walk around the store for long periods of time. lol Your level of discipline is something to admire. Eventually I will get there. The amount of games I get per year is still up there in the numbers. I have gotten a lot better since 2012. Now that is something I have definitely focused more on is playing the game. Figuring out if I like it, love it, want to get rid of it or maybe come back to it. I have completely stopped playing a game and got rid of it.

Started myself with getting stuff I always wanted to have as a kid, and just started getting games. Now I only grab what I will play and have a strong nostalgic bind with. Like, I bought a Sega Master system 7? 6 years ago? And only have an Alex Kidd game for it lol. Singular lol. Then, with Nintendo stuff I’m like BUY ALL THE THINGS lol. I’ve bought more figures than games lately because I’m pretty happy with the stuff I have now. Great video sir

That's how it was for me. Collect games of my chidhood. Played them, enjoyed them then traded them. Also I have purchased consoles just for certain games. I've purchased consoles like the OG Xbox and Dreamcast without absolutely no knowledge of the library but it was fun. Thanks for dropping in.

I am ALWAYS going to have a deep love for physical games. With digital I get lost in the shuffle of games. With a person who has high levels of energy its not always good.

I've kept the same philosophy on my game collecting for a long time now, which is basically if I would be willing to play it again, or if it was a gift I'd want to remember, I'm gonna keep it around. If I have no interest in playing it again, I'll get rid of it. How's my life as a gamer? Great! Just too bad I don't have more time to do it. It's the one past time that's been with me for as long as I can remember.

Maybe when I get older I start to keep more titles but I don't like overwhelming myself. It gets to crazy for my mental space. lol

man if i never got rid of my nes and super nes my collection whould be huge right now i remember back in the 90's gettin big nes game lots from garage sales man it was like christmas every weekend lol

I have a lot of systems nes,snes,n64,gamecube,wii,wii u,switch,genesis,ps1,ps3,xbox,xbox360 thats not including portable but almost all of the old systems i acquired as hand me downs i think the only old school console i bought was the genesis

That's so true! One minute a few games then the next several hundred. Especially with a new console it starts to get a little bit wild

Hey LS79, How many games left in your collection??? I just started collecting for handhelds (Switch, PSP, Vita, DS, GBA) these last 2 years. I'm up to 75 games so far & will try my best to cap it of @ 💯.

Around 280 - 285 Physical games. Digital. 200- 300 rough guess

@@GameFreak4Ever Damn you have more digital than expected. My entire Switch Collection is digital & not by choice. Great video though LS, & I appreciate the feedback. BTW. You and Happy console gamer sparked my interest into collecting. Before that I'd play a game, beat it, trade it in.

That's really cool about the collecting. The digital is spread over many platforms. (360, PS3, PS4, X1 and Steam) Yeah HCG definitely is a real one. I talk to him every now and then. I learned to be comfortable with my audience through him.

Im the same for the most part with physical games i have my everdrives but i need to have a physical copy if the game means something to me

Yeah I tried to re-upload a new version with better audio quality. Wasn't successful with that. Using a new mic.

@@GameFreak4Ever Oh sweet. Try messing around with free video software. they should let you adjust the gains-audio easily without a new mic. A new mic helps too. I look forward to your content.

@@levelupdelivery9504 yeah after I recorded realized the mic was off. Yes you are right the audio can be adjusted. Already had rendered the video. I wanted to post after re-editing. Got late and kept the original. Lesson learned. 😃

@@GameFreak4Ever haha it's cool. That's how we get better. I made resident evil video once, and my buddy was supposed to be recording me at night running around the yard, jumping fences. He filmed from the roof. Then once I was done running, he said he thought he was recording and we had to reshoot.

Brooooo. I had that happen on numerous occasions. Thought I was recording but I wasn't. lol Update: I ended up taking that camera back and getting a better one. My new video is with the new camera.
