Video Game leaks are, most of the time, pretty annoying (to me), and I figure that it's best not to engage with them, or the leakers themselves, like Midori or Pyoro.

Cool video! This hits home for me especially lately, when the ace attorney investigations 2 localisation, something I have been wanting for years, was leaked in advance for a nintendo direct I would've seen live anyway. I would've lost my mind haha

yeah, i remember accidentally catching a tweet about that and i would’ve freaked out about it too, i adore the ace attorney games, it sucks because it would’ve fit right in with the rest of the direct being peak

Exactly. I’m glad how little was leaked. But that one thing that was leaked did still ruin the direct a bit for me because it made me think aa7 was a possibility. It’s just a net negative. You either get it spoiled, or you get dissapointed >>

I completely agree! one of my favorite games just had a leak, the creators went on and addressed the leak (and confirmed it too) it made me sad to see creators having to prematurely confirm information they've been working hard on AFTER someone leaked it. it was also sad for me because it ruined the surprise that would've been dropped in game.

The Nintendo Gigaleak was amazing because it allowed otherwise lost forever media to shine. Pokémon Picross on the Game Boy Color was complete but never released. That Gigaleak leaked the full game, and there's even a fan translation now. I'm so happy I can play it, and it's my favorite Picross gane. I love those kinds of leaks, but leaks of upcoming games are not good and ruin the fun. Though I do remember when someone leaked the whole premise of Pokémon Lets Go on 4chan on Apil Fools and no one believed them at all because it sounded dumb lol. That was a fun one.

I get the hype that leaks can bring. Something about rumours being spread or screenshots/info on new games being shown before release really can put you in that sort of school drama gossip type excitement but at the end of the day I find them pretty bad just on the industry itself. Developers and companies in all forms of media are well aware of hype culture nowadays and a lot of them really do like banking on that culture, imo it's way better seeing something new in a way they originally wanted to show it to you. For example if the next smash game's full roster leaked out just now what fun would there be in the big announcement trailers? (which tbf a few characters did leak in SSBU and when you look at people's reactions to those characters it really did display how some of those leaks slightly lessened the impact) People get passionate making these games and they obviously wanna put their best foot forward, sometimes leaks can ruin people's opinions on games before they even get to be officially shown off (recent examples of GTA 6 and the Wolverine game) this is completely ignoring any leaks that are actually kinda serious like staff members info being leaked and stuff Leaks are normal in any industry and it won't ever go away but sometimes it feel like all the major releases as of recent have been leaked before hand which kinda ruins some of the fun, I wish they were at least a little easier to not find so randomly

Remember when people were dogging on Insomniac for the Alpha footage of Wolverine that was never supposed to be shown publicly, and for a game that was 3 years away from completion?

yes that was awful we literally had just learned our lesson with the GTA leaks (i’m pretty sure that was before the wolverine leaks but i could be wrong)
