Wingspan (both boardgame and videogame [Nin. Switch & PC]). I find this game to be extremely benificial in terms of cognition. Here's why: -by learning the cards in the game, you can learn about real birds from all over the world(real facts whether involved with in game mechanisms or "flavor text") -while its a competitive engine building game, I find it can be played to emphasize both personal optimization and design, as well as competitive. -extremely relaxing (especially the video game, with original soundtracks and bird calls) -engine building: time & resource management, probability and statistics of cards & resources, building efficient & elegant solutions -different game goals with every match

I love the Witness for its simplicity, but it teaches me so much about how my mind solves Problems and this without any explanations. Only the puzzels teaches you the rules of the game. You have to constantly ask yourself if your assumptions are right of unvomplete. Masterpiece.

I’m Spanish, never lived abroad, and my (American) English is often remarked to be near-perfect by native speakers. Their reaction to my telling them that the quality of my English is purely the consequence of having played video games my entire life is plain disbelief.

There are also a lot of games now that teach you fundamentals of design (e.g. "I love hue") and a lot of games that try to teach you algorithmic thinking, which is a subset of logic.

Definitely play Factorio! I'm obligated to tell you Factorio should come with an addiction warning label because it will hijack your life.

* I found the beginner's guide interesting. Through its narrative it gave me a really concrete example of how narratives can be constructed to be deceptive. That's useful for media literacy. * Darkest dungeon taught me to value company success over human life? :P

I'm a bit late on this, but I think the game set in space with time loops that Martin mentioned was Outer Wilds.

Since no one else has commented it... I'd just like to say that either Tom is misremembering what Xenoblade 2 was like or it's a different game entirely, because even if the quests were tedious it was NOT a button mash game. The combat system is infamously confusing and poorly explained, it's actually TOO complex if anything and isn't even an action RPG! Weird pick

No list of games No game-related pics so we can see them scrolling through No mention of platforms No solid linking of games to specific cognitive areas of improvement
