She claimed fraud to the bank after paying a deposit, getting her money back. Many vendors have to spend funds prepping for the day, such as ordering invitations, flowers and gowns. Also holding a venue cost money with the loss of payment and inability to rent it close to the date. People who do this are low life’s and very self centered.

You’re exactly right, it’s a fantasy to many people. People think marriage is all rainbows and butterflies, get married… it will solve all your relationship issues. Or women and men alike are made to feel they must get married, if you aren’t married by a certain age with 2.5 kids then “what is wrong with you that you are not married”. People are pressured to have a spouse and kids. Maybe that girl was left by the man she loved, maybe she was being pressured, maybe she has low self esteem , there’s so many maybes. What I can be most sure of is that she needs psychiatric help. People bashing her are assholes. She has consequences, she’s going to be forever embarrassed by this, it will probably make her spiral downhill further. Everyone has opinions, but I am sure if they actually talked to her and found out why she did this, they’d feel differently (unless they’re heartless). Social media is full of bullies who act like they’ve never done a thing wrong In their life.

Why should felonies EVER be expunged? Just because she was forced to pay or be in jail, doesn't mean it never happened. Imagine the expense to law enforcement (aka the tax payers) just tracking her down and arresting her. She sure didn't reimburse those expenses. All expungement does is give her a clean slate from which to commit more fraud.

My daughter got married 2 years ago and we had to have deposits on everything immediately. Then everything needed to be paid in full 2 weeks before the wedding. Then it was finalized. She must talk a good game to get that many vendors to do the work before payment is clear.

It's called Deferred Adjudication. They basically put you on probation, and delay the trial until after your probation ends. If you stay out of trouble, and comply with all the conditions of your probation, then the charges get dropped. If not, you get punished just as if you'd gone to trial in the first place.
