Nail Color: Sinful Colors "Supernova," one coat, followed by one coat of Maybelline Color Show "Gilded Rose," one coat, and one coat of "Out The Door" shiny top coat.
Someone asked me to make a video about dealing with embarrassment. This ramble/storytime video addresses that topic. I don't think it's really ASMR, so I didn't label it as such. I hope you enjoy it.
Also, I got my hair "did" between my earlier video today and this one. Sorry I keep messing with it, but it feels like it was kissed by angels, and I can't seem to stop touching it. :)

This is great. Heading into my mid 30s, I am just now figuring out that the rest of the world could care less what I have going on. I am free to have value in my own eyes, without asking for permission. I have a hubby, kids and a house and strangely, deciding to let go.. feels like my first real adult decision 😹 Thank you for everything you do ❤

Omg Mary I got asked on a fake date once when I was about 11. I thought he was being serious but it was prank and him and his mates laughed. Kids can be so cruel! I’m 32 now and I still remember it so clearly! I’m sorry that happened to you.

It happened to me as well in 8th grade. I got asked to Homecoming on a dare, and the kid didn't tell me it was a joke until a week later. I already told my parents, and got a dress and everything. It never leaves you. The guy's name was Jake, and now every time I meet a person named Jake, I automatically hate him (which I realize is wrong and unfair, and I'm working on it.) I was already very shy and had no self-esteem at all, and that pretty much finished me off. I really hate that this has happened to so many people. :(

You know, in retrospect I think it’s awesome that Mary went over to Adam and said Hi. That shows how gutsy she is. I wish I had more self confidence and didn’t fear rejection as much as I did in high school.

It's really something how embarrassment can haunt people for so long. I'm still somewhat plagued by embarrassing situations from 20 years ago 😂 And yet they're really just a memory, a thought, not tangible, not even relevant anymore. It's really a waste to carry these burdens if we think about it... Only the Present is real!

I’m a bit older than you at 52 and I’ve had embarrassed moments all my life. I am similar in the way I ruminate over things and over think. I have quite low self esteem and confidence and get paranoid that everyone is looking and talking about me including the neighbours. My 18 year old daughter says they’re not even taking any notice of me and it’s all in my mind. I feel for you in the story of ‘Adam’, that friend sounded really fake. It’s not an easy thing to do to shrug off embarrassing moments but thanks for sharing your stories with us.

The whole time you're telling the Adam story, I'm going "No, Little Mary, don't do it!" I dealt with some mean girls like that as well. I think most girls have. And hearing about your ex's family makes me feel really proud of mine. With all our faults, we'd never laugh about something like that. We'd be embarrassed ourselves at Junior's behavior, and he'd end up being the one embarrassed because he'd likely get his tail tore up in front of everybody. Thanks for the advice and the stories, Mary. I've always been quiet and easily embarrassed, but the older I get, the better I get. I'm still a worry wart, though.

Who are these people who critique cooking videos?? Where are they? I just want to talk. But seriously, to the people who criticized someone grilling sirloins to the point they removed comments, why are you this way? Was it necessary to offer your opinion when it wasn't constructive, just mean? Do you feel good now that you expressed your opinion in a way that made someone want to delete a video? C'mon, man. Just stop.

Laughing at yourself is the best advice I can give - it works for me, anyway. I use to be embarrassed all the time. Now, I'm just like, "Oh well." But I do care what people think of me...less than I use to, but 100% most people only care about themselves and if they take time to make you feel like crap, it is more a reflection of what they feel about themselves than you. Love this video. Thank you, Mary, for your openness and authenticity.

This is such a thoughtful video, Mary. I know these subjects might be tough to talk about but I appreciate your honesty. You've mentioned a few times that you grew up in a dysfunctional family but it also sounds like there was a lot of love in your household. The story about your Dad making you a Barbie dreamhouse is one of the sweetest things ever; that's even better than the store brand! If you're comfortable discussing it, a video about how you fell for your bad fiance would be really interesting. A lot of girls fall for the lure of a bad boy and it rarely ends well; you are lucky to have escaped before you actually married him or had kids with him. In hindsight, it would be interesting to hear what warning signs you noticed and (at the time) missed. I really think more girls need to be aware of the "hooks" that problematic people use to manipulate them before they even realize it is happening.

I agee that the importance of many things changes over the years, but I have just remembered one embarrassing story of which I probably would be feeling bad even today. Me and my husband went to a classical concert and enjoyed it with the exception of one truly modern and very dissonant piece for a string quartet. After it ended we both shared our soft spoken relief that "that was over thank God". Next to me was an old man who looked at us with a frown. Suddenly it had been announced that the author of the piece was present that evening - and it was that old man sitting next to me! He got to the stage, got some flowers and then returned back to his seat. We really could not wait for the evening to end, then he quickly disappeared. I felt like Emma from Jane Austen´s book, when Mr. Nightly told her: "Badly done, Emma!" And on a different note - great necklace, Mary!

Wonderful talk. Thanks for sharing. I had a similar incident. I lived in a group home when I was a junior and it was time for prom. My therapists fighter had gotten married a few years before and had a beautiful Marilyn Monroe inspired dress she offered me to wear. I didn’t have a date and had made a couple of friends at my new school. The school was Floyd knobs and they were a lot of rich spoiled doctors kids and here I am 17 can’t drive in foster care Until your 18 so I’m going the providence group home his time school everyday... anyways it was my night to be Cinderella ( van or carriage)... so I got all dolled up and felt pretty. This was a sleeveless wedding dress tailored to fit someone else like a glove, not me. I wore it anyways and raised my arm to put it around a girlfriend neck for a picture and when I did my breast flopped out!!!!! I didn’t notice until the flashes started going off and people started gasping and laughing.... I was blinded and could barely see and sure enough I looked down and there it was... my left breast exposed and on everyone’s phones and cameras for years and years and years. I was horrified and nobody tried to help. I told myself I would never step foot in that school again and I didn’t!!! I dropped out of school and the nuns at the group home helped me study for my GED and I got a job and got my diploma 4 months earlier than everyone else.

@@Geetanjalisaha199 It's simple really. When a person sets another person up for major embarrassment for their own entertainment, then laughs and makes the other person feel like an idiot and a loser, that person is a Big. Massive. "C." There's really nothing to debate about.

We had to do a skills check off assessment in nursing school today. We had to perform in front of the rest of the class and needed to do all the skills pretty much perfectly to pass. I couldn't get the damn blood pressure cuff to work, even though I could do it in my sleep. I wanted to die, but I made it through. I volunteered to go first so I was the one who fumbled the most. But I'm happy I went first. I ended up passing. Honestly I'm embarrassed my instructor saw me fumble but other than that I don't really feel embarrassed looking back.
