Now that I'm a high school teacher I can see how young and naive they are. They are very vulnerable and can be manipulated easily. He did a very wrong thing but he was a dumb kid who got probably manipulated by powerful and smart criminals. If he survived I know he would have laughed at his young self. dock1 the full episode is on YT. The rest of the story is the boy dies in terrible agony and the two officers who told him to drink it and murdered him were not even reprimanded and still work in their same positions. The kid’s life didn’t even warrant an apology or reprimand, apparently. But then again, he is not a rich, white, American boy, so he doesn’t count, right? Disgusting. Poor kid. RIP

Its important to understand that most people listen and obey the instructions of an officer. Why? Because an officer carries a badge, a gun and authority given under oath. It's sad to see officers misuse their authority by instructing another person to take a drink of an unknown liquid.

Yes but if he admitted it was drugs he would have been incarcerated, not dumped back in Mexico and he could have rolled on his dealers...this kid is only a victim of his own stupidity. If he was worried about being killed by cartels if he didn't have success smuggling concentrated meth then he STILL made his own choice and died how he wanted AND just testing the product with a field test wouldn't have saved his life anyway because as it is being claimed here by some of You "he would be killed if he didn't smuggle them in" You leftist idiots act as though customs should have let him take the drugs on in and letting drug mules become part of American society to reward them for being caught smuggling lethal concentrated narcotics into our streets is the most was backwards, absurd notion I can fathom in this scenario. The only logical answer is that this kid should have admitted guilt, stressed to the customs agents his situation with a request for protection in exchange for information about the dealers. If he didn't get protection that's sad but still not Customs fault that cartels are murderous animals. This kid is a victim of his own ignorance and youthful inexperience and by your own standard once he was caught his life couldn't be saved wether he drank it or not...unless he was able to strike a deal with U.S. Customs or the DEA or something. This progressive style of absurdity, the false allegations, the blind bias of anything that doesn't conform to alt left ideology, the trends of hatred for things you don't understand and the remarkable level of flagrant hypocrisy and double standards the left practices as it pertains to all of these things has either got to stop or it WILL destroy all possibility of maintaining a free or quality standard of living in the U.S. Ppl who fail to see the destruction this does are not humanitarians or politically correct...they are not comprehensive of the reality of life and have been manipulated by leftist fairy tales and propaganda.

Basically, once they hold you for any reason, that “criminal “ is their responsibility. Protocol would be to use your test kit to prove if the liquid in the bottle is in fact a drug. In no way, shape or form are you to let the suspect take a taste test. These are Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). These are iron clad. What they did was illegal. Just because someone is entering the US, doesn’t mean you can break your own rules and laws. I’m disgusted by the people in here saying he got what he deserved. Pathetic humans who feel the end justifies the means. Rule of law idiots! It’s what makes us a country.

Clearly he was a scared 16yr old. You may say, "oh he was not innocent and knew better", but clearly by his death he had no idea. They are the professionals and are thoroughly trained to handle and detect drugs. The boy was attempting to commit a crime yet the officers should have never put him up to consuming potential lethal drugs that they suspected to be drugs all along. This was a negligence of the officers for not caring for him while the boy was in their care since they were detaining him at this point. Its the same urging someone to drink poison even though you know its poison but you want to make them prove it they are/not lying by consuming this deadly poison. These officers are trained to know that any amount of suspected drugs being smuggled can potentially be in any form and any concentration, even lethal. They set this young naïve boy up to die. Its simple as that.

James T Kirk Cameron yes that part is clear without even having to say it. He paid the ultimate price. Are you saying the officers hold no responsibility and did their job correctly? Lets say your son was caught with cocaine on him and lied to the officers by telling them it was simple baking material and they then told him to snort multiple lines until effect even though they suspected it was drugs but wanted to prove he was lying. Lets say your son did it out of shear fear or stupidity. Would you only be angry with your son and find fault with your son?

Rene Mojica after watching this video that’s conclusion you came up with? That drug addicts are responsible? You are a fvcking idiot. The only person whose a hundred percent responsible is the young man taking part in drug trafficking and voluntarily drinking meth concentrate, and the two border agents are both partially responsible because IF they were suspicious they shouldn’t have let him drink it and tested it themselves BUT that doesn’t change the fact he was voluntarily breaking the law and partaking in drug trafficking and voluntarily drank the concentration. I don’t want to hear “oh but he was 16” lol c’mon now this isn’t kids will be kids, drug trafficking is not a common thing for a sixteen year old to be doing.

He was a 16 year old child. Most likely he was never properly educated about methamphetamine. He may not even have known exactly what was in those bottles. He probably didn't know that drinking it would kill him. Children often make foolish decisions - because they are children - and shouldn't be led down paths by adults that could kill them. On the other hand, the adults in this situation were trained professionals, whose job training taught them to recognise methamphetamine being smuggled in this form, who knew that if their suspicions about the bottles were correct that allowing the child to drink from those bottles right in front of them would possibly kill him. Hopefully you will grow to have more compassion for other people.

Actually in my occasion at borders (not American Mexico) including China airport, Thailand airport, Jeju island airport.. I got some water bottles which the officers allowed me in discreetly, provided I take a sip or two. I think this is standard practise at the borders where officers exercise their judgment based on what the person said. In my opinion, you shouldn't lie in the first place. But if one choose to do so, it should be at their own risk. Because the teenager look innocent, my first impression would be to trust what he said it is the content of the bottle. Corrected: 2 minutes after the initial request by the officer to take 2 sip from the bottle, the officers ask him to drink from the bottle again. A total of 4 sips (drink), the second request to the boy to further drink is proof of misconduct by the officers. 🤐 To think that I was trying to reason their behavior.

mainEVENTjr do you know why he done it? beucae i don't and i can't judge if i don't know, maybe he did it because he was forced or maybe because he wanted to, I think I'm sure that he was no profesional and i don't think a 16 year old deserved death because we all make mistakes specially if your young, so you thinking he deserved it tell what kind of human being you are 👍🏻

It never shows the officials forcing the idiot drug-mule to drink, they just called his bluff when he lied and said it was apple juice. The moron could have simply admitted it wasn't apple juice, and he would be alive today. Thus, this was much more like suicide, than any criminal act by the customs officers, there should have never been a settlement paid to the smuggler's family, that simply encourages more similar crimes. Ridiculous!

True American im not sure why they did not show the whole video here. This one edited and stopped early. There is another longer video with the officers being interrogated and showd them prompt him to drink it more than onece as they laugh and wait for a reaction.

Even if he wouldn't have drunk that bottle he would still be killed once he reached San Diego beacuse he had failed his mission. He appeared kinda nervous and it made the guards suspicious. He panicked and would rather "get a small dose" of the meth instead of facing the gangsters wrath on the other side of the border...smh
