Can we appreciate how clean those animations are for a game that didn't have motion tracking ?!

VF does have a very charming look to it. Like, the characters look basic and cartoony enough that the fact they're literally made out of blocks doesn't look out of place. At least compared to Kuma in Tekken 1.

This is why I never really got into fighting games. You play them on singleplayer a few times to get a feel for it and find out the best way to beat the AI is to use cheesy strategies. Then you go online and realize none of that is actually going to work against a real person.

@@DragoonCenten Yeah, but with the same amount of effort you could learn to: speak another language, Get the basics of painting down, bake homemade pastries, start a vegetable garden, start playing an instrument, or get out there and find a significant other. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. You do you though.

Just because strategies that work on AI don’t work on real people doesn’t mean it’s impossible to win online. You just have to figure out things that work in real matches

Hey Dunkey, you probably won’t see this but I just wanted to give a big thank you to you for covering these old fighting games recently. I’ve been a fan of your content and fighting games for years now, and it’s really cool to see some more vintage titles in the community get some spotlight from you. I hope to see some more content like this in the future!

In Yakuza Kiwami I discovered that, in VF2, you can just rush directly at your opponent and spam grapple, and it'll get you through all the AI.

You really can't blame the AI here, the developers needed to make it somewhat challenging against players who managed to beat the "Bowser's Big Bean Burrito" stage.

It's a shame that no other fighter has come close to the elaborate combat system developed in this game. Other fighters just don't make me FEEL the character's pain like this one.

And yet a certain website call hard games "Nintendo Hard" despite Nintendo made games are usually fair to beat with dedications. Others like SNK, Namco, and Atlus, expect AI that doesn't play by the rules.
@mememerchant4612 ай бұрын
Fun fact, when the AI does those knee attacks while you block, it's doing a frame perfect input. Here's how it works: you press kick and guard at the same time but let go of guard exactly 1 frame after pressing it (which you have to press at the exact same time as kick). If that wasn't enough that's the input for every game after VF1! The input in VF1 is the same BUT YOU DOUBLE TAP FORWARDS BEFORE PRESSING KICK AND GUARD AT THE SAME TIME AND LETTING GO OF GUARD EXACTLY 1 FRAME AFTER PRESSING IT. JUST FOR ONE MOVE. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!!?!
