Not only is this game named after a legend in Joe Montana but it features the voice of the legendary Lon Simmons the voice of the Giants and 49ers RIP Lon.

Well I dunno. Never would've expected that. But here are a couple of interesting facts, this technically (officially) is marked as the 1st true entry into the 2k series of NFL football. Believe it or not Sega actually went to Trip Hawkins (Primary Developer of Madden games and President of EA) and they struck up some kind of deal to agree to work on the project. Joe Montana Football had initially missed it's Xmas deadline so as a result ended up coming out shortly after the release of the original John Madden football.

I'm European and this game I played so so much when I was a teen even though I didn't and still don't care about american football at all. A really addictive and great sports game, better than any Madden game.

This was a pretty advanced football title for the time. The commentary, the play selections, animations, the zoom feature, the graphics, etc were legendary at the time.

+SatanicalEve No, the original Joe Montana Football didn't have commentary. This was the first game in the franchise to feature it (hence the reason it's subtitled "Sports Talk Football" -- Sports Talk is what they called the technology).

I remember I would always run a Reverse play and run with the QB instead of handing it off, always gained a lot of yards and often would be a wide open run for a touchdown.

999 seam from under center, shotgun 492 quick pass to wr on comeback route, sweep strong run it with qb keeping it or use it as a option play, the regular bootleg not naked bootleg, 444 flat comeback route, best plays if ran properly, 628 zoom pass to the tight end even in double coverage, repeatedly tap c so tight end can jump and catch it everytime, shoots and slants pass to the 3td wr option or te when in red zone Yes half back pass works, I just stated plays that actually work without the fake fg pass and hb pass

All you had to do was a running play and then just run in the opposite direction on the sideline and have the other team chase you and just run down to the other sideline and go the way your supposed to go and then you'll get a touchdown every time!

The first one. It was a mind fuck as a kid when I first played it. Just blown away. 1991 was a great year for sports games. Tecmo Super Bowl came out later and my best friend and me would sometimes go 36 hours without sleep playing that damn game.
