In this Bolivia travel guide we get a view over Cochabamba, La Paz and Santa Cruz in Bolivia.
La Paz is located in the Andes, about 3,600 meters above sea level, making it one of the world's highest cities.
Together with the equally large neighboring city of El Alto, which was part of La Paz until 6 March 1985, the metropolitan area has over 1.7 million inhabitants.
It is the country's commercial and administrative center, and seat of its government and parliament. La Paz is an important traffic hub for flights and for railways to Chile and Argentina, among others.
Cochabamba is a city in central Bolivia, and is located in a valley of the same name in the Andes mountain area. Cochabamba is the fourth largest city in the country.
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, commonly called Santa Cruz, is the capital of the Santa Cruz Department of Bolivia. The city, which has an estimated population of about 1.6 million (2010), is the country's largest individual city. However, the metropolitan area around La Paz and El Alto has slightly more inhabitants in total.
Santa Cruz is located in the Amazon river basin in the eastern part of the country.
