Good video. People need to familiarize themselves with vehicles before getting in one at these rental agencies. I had reserved a full sized sedan and the employee guided me to pick a car from a certain group on the lot, which included a lot of economy and compact vehicles. But I already knew the makes/models that are included in full sized so I was able to get what I actually paid for. I paid a higher price for a better vehicle. Make sure you get your money's worth!

Spotting an Alfa Romeo Stelvio as a rental, very cool! Would be awesome they also had Alfa Romeo Gulia’s haha. Would def rent one of those if it where posible. I liked the Q&A part, you should do them about more classes. Would be nice!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely do more of these down the road. This video has the most views of any I've done in this short period of time according to KZfaq. Hertz YYZ a couple years ago had base model Alfa Romeo Gulia’s. I was lucky enough to rent one and it was amazing!

Great video, very helpful. I'm coming to Orlando later in the year and need to rent a full size SUV. It needs 7 seats (4 adults, 3 kids) and enough cargo space for 4 suitcases. I've noticed the cargo space varies significantly with the large SUVs. Which would be the best SUV category to guarantee I can find one big enough? Are the premium SUV generally larger than the full size or luxury SUV categories?

Yes the Premium SUV category is larger and would typically give you the extended version of the SUV for example something like a Ford Expedition MAX, GMC Yukon XL

I've just reserved a "Premium SUV", which is "Chevy Suburban or similar". But these cars are all jumbled up. I'm going to have to make sure I know what all the good models and trim levels are!

Evan was nice enough to post a full list in the comments of all of the categories. Myself I would probably take a Ford Explorer if it was the Limited Trim or higher or a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have three free days with National, going to Miami at the end of the month. What would be better premium Elite SUV or Luxury SUV? What vehicle do they have?

Great question! When booking my free days if I'm not booking a convertible I'll book the most expensive SUV that I can redeem with a free day usually an Elite or Luxury. If you are also an Executive Elite you can book almost any class of car except for a few.

Thanks for the video! The code for Full Size suv is FFAR not FRAR, and the chevrolet suburban is PFAR, not FFAR - the Tahoe is FFAR

This month I got a 2019 Ford Explorer that had a dealer sticker on it from a Ford dealer in Utah, but the plate was a Florida plate. The car only had about 4,000 miles on it. I had assumed that AvisBudget maybe even bought the car used because of the shortages? What did you mean by "dealer car"?

It even had the front plate as a paper advertisement from the Utah dealer.

Yep, these are cars the rental agencies buy from a local dealer instead of buying through fleet sales direct from the manufacturer. A lot of this is happening right now with the new car shortages.

Hey love these videos! I'm renting for the first time this year with Alamo in Tampa International. I was wondering if you know what selection of Standard SUVs Alamo would have? It said Ford Edge or similar so I was wondering what else would be in that size category? Thanks for any info or responses regarding this

Thanks for watching! A Standard SUV could be any of the following: - Ford Edge, Toyota Highlander, Toyota 4runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevy Equinox, Mazda CX9, Ford Explorer, Dodge Journey, GMC Terrain, GMC Arcadia

Hello, I really enjoy the content of your vlogs. I have a question I rented a car from Alamo at MCO. The category is premium SUV and the blurb states BMW X3 or similar. I only saw one of these in all of your MCO and MIA videos. I'm wondering if I should change to another category because this is such an oddball. Have you any experience with this category. I am a member of the fastbreak club, but I just don't know about this. Thanks for your vlogs no matter if you answer this or not, and I did subscribe to your channel yesterday.

Thanks for watching and for subscribing! A Premium Elite SUV at Alamo would likely be one of the following: BMW X3, Audi Q3, Cadillac XT4, BMW X5, Audi Q5, Cadillac XT5. Unless you need something bigger I would just stick with this category.

@@CarRentalGuy Thanks for the information. I used to have a membership in the Avis Presidents club provided to me through my employer, I retired last year so I no longer have that benefit available. I always had a lot of fun finding out what I'd get when I got to the booth. I appreciate all of the time you spend checking these inventories, keep up the great work.

@@Jessica-sj7bo Hello Jessica, We're not leaving until October 28th to spend Halloween at Disney World. I'll let you know when we get back, but I know that'll be a little late for you. The category I rented was actually called "Premium Elite SUV". Alamo has twenty-five different categories of SUV's which I find amazing. I think you'll be in an extended length full size SUV like a Suburban or Expedition Max. I hope this helps.

Ford : Edge, Explorer Nissan : Murano good on gas Toyota : 4Runner, Highlander Dodge : Journey (discontinued) Jeep : Grand Cherokee Kia : Sorento GMC : Acadia (sometimes Terrain) Chevrolet : Equinox most of time

Great question. With Covid and the car shortage some of the rental agencies have been buying cars and SUVs right off dealer lots and in some cases they aren't even brand new. You can often spot these as they will have the dealer stickers on them. Where as if they buy cars/SUVs through the fleet program directly from the manufacturer they won't have any dealer stickers on them.
