Sieglinde is canonicaly the strongest NPC in DS1 since she traverses almost all of Lordran as a Human and survives the trip. That's basically playing DS1 blind and deathless. What a beast

One of the best things with Vaati's content is that it does such a great job of making you want to look for these kinds of things the next time you go through a fromsoft game whether new or old

Whilst playing: "I have no idea what's going on, I just know that I like it :D" After finishing: "Now I'm sad that it ended and *still* have no idea what was happening. Lemme go to youtube to look it up!". I think that's why these reactions were so highly requested: it's an essential part of the experience for many Dark Souls players. I think Fromsofts opaque storytelling style is one of the things that makes their games so popular, cause you get to keep enjoying the game long after you've completed it (and/or dive back in to end up discovering things you didn't on your first run)

Vaati's videos are marvelous, and very persuasive, and so his take has become the default view of the Dark Souls story. But it isn't the only possible interpretation, and there are others out there. FromSoft has very deliberately left things ambiguous and have not endorsed any specific "correct answer." This is very much just a "jumping off point" on the lore of this rather amazing series. Quelana of Izalith shows up in Blighttown if your pyromancy flame is upgraded to +10, she can also ascend your flame, like a blacksmith with an ember. If/when the pyromancer at Firelink disappears in search of the chaos magic you did or didn’t find, eggboy can upgrade your flame. Side note: pyromancy is still considered sorcery by code, so the bellowing/lingering dragoncrest rings affect them

There have been a lot of theories about who the last unaccounted for daughter of chaos is. I think the main one thought to be her is Velka, godess of sin. Whether you make more lore reaction videos or not, I highly recommend the channel 'Hawkshaw' especially 'Ash Lake, Havel, and the Plot against the Gods' and 'The Way of White & The Undead Curse'. You've really only scratched the surface of the depth of history and characters of DS1 :D there is *so much more* to discover and ponder

when you were fighting through izalith a pyromancer was waiting outside the Bed of Chaos...this was another of the daughters of chaos. Not sure if the identity of the seventh is known. if you find sif in the circle of light and free him, then yes, if you are human at the time, you can summon Sif to assist with Manus. yes that is what plays if you do the DLC before SIf. Which makes it even WORSE...PAIN. Seiglyn found Seigmier hollowed and violent in Ash Lake, and she killed him....also PAIN. As vaati says...these are called Prepare to Cry for a reason. dont worry Amber, Souls fans WANT more people to dive into the lore. So dont worry we love this stuff.

Sif was as they say loyal to a fault. Even after Artorious fell to the abyss his memory was still pure and stood for all those fortunate enough to have loved him in life. Sif and his fellow Abyss Walkers honored that legacy every blade in the graveyard came from a noble warrior who met their own end. Fitting they died at the hand of Sif seeking a familiar soul only to guard his masters grave waiting patiently for his own death to come. Acknowledging our own presence the moment we interact with Artorious's resting place him smelling us before picking up that blade was such small gesture yet one of profound respect. He loved his master and died defending his memory. 🤧👏

I wish the DLC had added a way to get the Covenant of Artorias without having to fight Sif in the present. It would have been a really nice touch.

"Who is the darkwrath?" It is Kirk. He invades your world many times if you don't play on undead stats. When his questline finishes, his real corpse can be find in the same room of the Fair Lady. He was invading other players world to gather humanity to feed the Fair Lady and easy her pain.

About the missing daughters of chaos...I think one of them is actually the dead body in front of ceaseless since you can loot the set they're all wearing in the opening cinematic from that body. And they can't be Quelana's robes cuz she's still wearing the same set when you meet her unless she did something like change her robes with her dead sister's robes before she left, which is weird but possible. And the last sister is a hostile NPC right outside of the bed of chaos boss room.

You can hear the Fair Lady speak in the game, but you have to be wearing the witch ring to do so.

On the Gargoyles, the magical Butterfly, the dragon in the sewer, Quileg, the Iron Golem, Orshtei and Smough, the 4 Kings - it was possible to summon NPC assistants, as well as find sets of their clothes in the game world. And sometimes we even have the option of several NPCs to call the boss at our request. This is why Dark Souls 1 is beautiful - it’s fun to play through it again and again, delving into its world and learning new things.

Yes, yes and yes. Quelana only appears, on an island, before Quelaag's Domain. You need to have a +10 Pyromancer Flame for her to appear. You must have Mastered, the Flame in order for her to share her Pyromancies. Gwynn has a missing son AND a possible secretive youngest daughter, 4 in total (that we know of). Quelana's real voice actor also voiced the "Darkmoon Knightess" Firekeeper of AnorLondo who turned on you when you unalived Gwyndolyn, her Master. And Yes, you can summon Sif for the Manus fight as long as you FIND him hidden behind a secret wall (which you did) FIRST. His summon sign is somewhat hard to find in the arena. You are also correct, if you do the DLC first, SIF has a special cut scene added in. Your excitement and thirst for knowledge makes watching these over again, worth it. No second guessing, you do well! 2 hours and over 2500 views, 536 likes, says a lot! Dark Souls never lets down whether playing or watching lore vids. Thanks!!

In order to find Quelana you need your Pyromancy Flame upgraded to at least +10. 🔥

Yes you can summon sof to fight Manus. If you play the dlc before your battle with sif, you get to see Sif in the dlc and use him as an Aly against Manus. You also get a special cutscene at the start of the side fight later on, as you'll still need to fight him to obtain the abyss ring to enter the abyss to fight the 4 kings. But out of respect to you. He tries to stop you to protect you. And well, ya. After knowing that and playing that fight in that order, you'll be fighting tears.

Personally I don't understand why viewers would request that you watch this when you've only played the first game. I too haven't played the other games yet and I prefer the change to figure out things for myself (even though I'd never get to these depths but that's part of the fun I guess).

Filianore is the 4th child… from youngest to oldest goes Filianore, Gwyndolin, Gwynevere and the lost one, who comes back in dark souls 3

This, THIS is what makes the Souls games so unique. I played these games happily for seven years without paying much attention to story: and the game ALLOWS you to do that. It never crams story down your throat, never forces you to watch hours of cutscenes-you can just keep on slashing away. But, if you take the time to read item descriptions, and notice the environmental story telling, and ponder the cryptic words of the world’s characters, you begin to unravel the mysteries of not one, but many moving stories hidden like ancient artifacts in the shadows. It’s truly remarkable.

This was my first time seeing the newer revisions of these prepare to cry videos and while it was all interesting in the context of the series as a whole, I take slight issue with the idea that the corpse that Ceaseless Discharge watches over was a result of Quelana faking her death. Based on her own dialogue I can fully believe everything else about this version of events but if that part were true that would leave 1 of the 7 daughters of chaos unaccounted for. 2 of them are part of the Bed of Chaos fight, 1 stands just outside the fog wall of the same fight, 2 of them became Qualaag and the Fair Lady, and 1 is Quelana herself. All in all that only accounts for 6, with the 7th presumably being the unnamed sister that lies on the slab in the Ceaseless Discharge boss arena. Also, on a different note entirely, the Artorias voice lines at 34:20 were datamined and aren't actually in the game similar to how we only know Oscar's name because of datamining.

I've heard it argued that Izalith fell because they lost control of the flame, and the chaos that emerged changed all around it (cracking the dome we see). So Quelana escaped that, perhaps, and the city that was there, which was a city developed by the Witches, fell into disrepair. It sort of makes sense if you think of the roots twisting through everything, an extension of what might be a combination of arch tree and the mother. Plenty of room for interpretation, though. And I see the Black Knights as those closest to Gwyn who were burned when he tried to reignite the First Flame in the kiln... I also don't feel like the demons we meet in the Undead Burg are under anyone's control. Except perhaps some greater cosmic force that greated the darksigns and pushed for things to resolve one way or the other. I sometimes think of the great crow that way, part of the force of nature trying to end this stagnation. (Also, I think the death of the fair lady was for show, I don't think Quelana even acknowledges if you do that...)

If you don't shed a tear to the Children of Chaos, you have no soul. The Dark wraith he mentioned is Kirk who will invade you in Izalith; the scene in question where you can find Quelana with the Fair Lady is in Dark Souls 3.

20:18 "Who's the Darkwraith?" Kirk, Knight of Thorns will invade you at 3 different locations if you're human. After defeating him each time, his corpse can be found in the Fair Lady's chamber.

Interesting that if you hang out with ose infected humpbacks, you may become one and can be cured buy an item that the npc humpback sells

Dark Souls lore and story is fascinating.

It would be interesting if you watched some of the "Things you didn't Know" videos Vaati's done because in those he rounds up details and things the developers placed in the game that are somewhat tied to lore but aren't always covered in the Lore Videos. Fun Fact: There's a ton of left over data that suggests Izalith was originally going to be a massive Swamp. I don't know if it was changed because of the lore, or if Fromsoft wanted the game to be more like the Legend of Zelda as that was one of it's inspirations. As such, Firelink Shrine used to be a Water Temple so Izalith being a Fire Temple would have made the nod a bit more obvious so they ended up toning down the Water part of Firelink and turned up the Fire part of Izalith.

It's a misconception that Artorias was left-handed: his left hand is damaged by the abyss because it was holding his greatshield. The shield gets damaged while fighting Manus, he realizes he must retreat, so he uses his now useless shield to guard lil Sif. Then he trudges back to Oolacile Township, leaving a trail of Dark behind him, into the coliseum, where we encounter him.

I did the DLC before fighting Sif, and let me tell ya, I'm NEVER doing that again. I was a whole mess.
