@@mielipuolisiili7240 Yep, I've done the first half of NL at a much later stage in the game (well after PW and O&S), googled a few things, I wasn't cursed (used the ghost weapon instead) and it was still quite frustrating with lots of deaths to ghosts and gravity. Haven't finished the second half, but getting to the ember and the shortcut to the outside was pretty straightforward, I can't remember if I even died once there.

Really interesting what areas people turn out to love in this game. New Londo is a personal favorite of mine, while in my later playthroughs I always do huge workaround never to have to do Blighttown. Both are just objectively bad from a "having fun" point of view but some kind of magic happens while exploring these areas - you start to feel like you've conquered not just a boss or some enemies, but a hostile world. I think that's the draw.

Combustion is a pretty great spell. It does a good bit of damage quickly & has a high amount of uses, but can't be thrown. So if you have have high health and/or cast iron flesh you can walk right up to things like the Asylum Demon & quickly burn them away. I do love magic in these games & would adore seeing you try it out. They even have casting items for people who only want to use a few spells & don't want to invest stats for magic damage. Only limit is attunement for how many spell you can equip at a time. Still, have a blast playing the game your way, whatever way that is.

Also, what a fun episode. New Londo, most of Blightown, The great Hollow, AND Queelag/The 2nd Bell? What I like about watching you is that you're curious, and actually explore, you don't just run straight to next obvious thing. A lot of people never find the Great Hollow. (And don't worry, there's something incredibly cool at the end of it. But yeah...you might wanna come back later for that.) Though I will say, two-handing your Halberd would actually work pretty well on those big Mushroom boys. You definitely wanna stay outta their punching range. Oh, and you were literally standing right next to an extremely useful shortcut earlier in the episode. Remember, those scaffold ladders are hard to see, sometimes.

I love how the BlightTown area is conencted to the rest of the world. I know that with all the chaos of going through it you didn't have much time to stop and admire the surroundings, but next time you go through BlightTown on your way back to firelink, when you're down in the swamp, look up and try to find your bearings. Try to spot familiar landmarks way up in the distance, and then try to figure out where the wooden structures are built, and then relate that to the great hollow. Then when you're back in firelink, try looking down from the bonfire area and from the aqueduct and see if you can tell how it is all connected.

All I'll say after that New Londo segment is... I hope it helps drill in the lesson to use your souls while you still have them :D It was a perfect chance to upgrade your sword at the sorcerer blacksmith. I think you're still holding onto that RPG mentality of "save your resources until you know you reeeeally want to spend them". Dark Souls directly punishes you for that mentality, and it's so easy to get more souls by farming or just progressing in the game, that you never really lose by spending them. (also you did so darn well to get that far through New Londo with your cursed HP pool. That place is no joke, your cautious playstyle was perfect for it)

You did really well. Most people panic a lot more going down Blighttown (it doesn't help that the original release was 720p and ran at around 10 fps throughout the place, so visibility was even worse). Before you leave, look around the large stone pillars at the bottom, there's someone you want to meet around there. Great Hollow is indeed the large tree you spotted from Firelink, but it doesn't lead there. You were close to a shortcut at the wheel (where you fought the snipers and dogs) but turned back down, look around there. Thank you for passing. 44:57 - After I finally got to this fire, I did not regret "humanity" and pumped the fire as far as I could. Not a very comfortable place.

I am commenting again because I finished the video and while it might be easier to listen to all the negative comments compared to the positive ones: your dark souls episodes have never been frustrating to watch! It's sooo refreshing and interesting to see someone go through it 1st time blind! I didn't know that being cursed did the same as transient curse (just never clicked for me) and the way you explore is so unique and fun to watch! And the way how you seem to have found your stride is amazing! the parkour through the Great Hollow/Deku Tree, your methodical approach to the enemies.. Please don't think of these videos as frustrating, they are a gift to the SoulsBorne community! And above all: enjoy!! :D

If you like faster attacks, I recommend a simple longsword. It is not crazy high damage but it is a respectable amount. It hardly consumes stamina and allows you to attack quickly and pile up damage with multiple attacks. It also comes with a thrust heavy attack for tight corridors

There is a boatload of twinkling titanite in the Great Hollow for upgrading the black knight sword. There are many secret paths from the very beginning. PS if a crystal lizard disappears, exiting out and restarting will make them reappear with you in position to take them out.

A bit of lore, I think he presumes pyromancy as unsavory because the witch in izalith used them, and it backfired, creating the Demons one of which you fought

That tower with the wheel elevator thing goes farther up. That's your way out. Also, try to get a look at what's powering it.

Before you go back, check around where quelaag came out of, there may be a secret...also that makeshift elevator IS a shortcut to somewhere, so please go back that way and maybe investigate some more, promise you won't be disappointed!

Greetings from Germany, it's great fun to follow your letsplay and I really enjoy watching the episodes. I've played through darkssouls several times myself and it fills me with joy to be able to look at it again through the eyes of a first playthrough. thank you for that and for your joy and casual handling of frustration. keep it up! hold on, a lot awaits you!

The way back to fire link is continuing going up the path you started going where you found the second fire keeper soul. You missed a ladder near the toxic goons!! Great episode as always!! im excited for when you go back to the great hollow. the adult mushrooms wallop you. Probably still would've been one shot if you were at full health.

9:30 The different smiths you find in the game do different ascensions to weapons. Andre the guy that looks Like Muscle Santa in the church, does Divine weapons (Alters weapons to scale magic damage based on faith). Ricket there since he is from Vinheim (Known for their Dragon School of Sorcery, as shown on the rings sold by the Sorcery Grigs in Firelink) specialized in Magic infused weapons (Changes weapons to scale magic damage off Int). Also why he sells some beginner spells as well

Ah yes one quality of life tipp. They changed it in the remaster i think so you can hold down the item change button and immediatly go to the first item/estus flask so you don't have to scroll through and pass it mid combat

All the bars build up in purple but the symbol next to the bar tells you what the status ailment is. Purple tear drop is poison; black tear drop is toxic; skull for curse; and the last on is bleed

So impressed that you got through Blight Town so easily and even enjoyed it. Your handling of the boss was excellent as well. That is a harder boss for most people.

54:00 you found the Iaito :D that is the weapon I used on my first playthrough, it's in such a remote location in this hellhole that not many people find it.
@Obversechaos
@Obversechaos Жыл бұрын
You should definitely try the Iaito. It's a bit hard to use, but it had good reach and damage, and if you can get down the quick draw (hold heavy attack and let go when in range of an enemy), it can be effective. I recommend trying out every weapon, at least to see their move sets, if not actual combat.

When you're close to a level, don't forget the souls you can gain from items in your inventory! They can be the difference between getting an extra level here and there, and pushing on only to lose a bunch of souls. Loving the playthrough.

That one message about the item in New Londo wasn't actually trolly, the item is there, just not in plain sight. And no, it's not in the water, that *will* kill you.
