Highly recommend the live cover by Nelly Furtado for after. The stripped version, it's the first one that pops up in the search. Great song, both versions.

They may have said: "Spaghetti Westerns," but, really, what they mean is: Ennio Morricone. ...because the "Spaghetti Western" is based-on: the work of Sergio Leone (with Clint Eastwood, primarily) -all shot in Italy [therefrom: the term "Spaghetti Western"]- and Leone's major composer was: Morricone. Ennio is vastly respected and beloved in every music community. ...also: "St. Elsewhere" was a, then-famed, ensemble, Hospital drama, in the early-late '80s. I believe it was the first of that kind of show and massive dramas/shows such as: "E.R." (and even the more "soap-operatastic": "Grey's Anatomy"), owe huge debts to St. Elsewhere (and were, likely derived from/had aspects derived from it). [David Morse (-whom you might recognize from: The Green Mile, ...also features in such movies as: The Hurt Locker, The Long Kiss Goodnight, 12 Monkeys, Contact, The Negotiator, he has a major role in: Disturbia, ...a ton of "Indie "films (such as Sean Penn's great directorial work!): The Indian Runner, The Crossing Guard, stuff such as: Collaborator, etc. ... ; among many, many other roles) and Denzel Washington were major cast members on St. Elsewhere.]. The "St. Elsewhere" ensemble cast "ran deep" and also included actors such as: Mark Harmon (later on: NCIS, etc.}; Ed Begley, Jr.; Eric Laneuville; Howie Mandel; Alfre Woodard (as a recurring character); Terence Knox; Ronny Cox [who you'd, probably, recognize from: the first 2 Beverly Hills Cop movies (no: he is neither one of the foils to Eddie Murphy! 😛) or the original version of RoboCop, perhaps. He is, also, in a ton of films!], William David Daniels (who is, likely, more famed/better recognized as: "The voice of K.I.T.T." in the show: Knight Rider!); Bruce Greenwood (whose face you'd, likely, recognize, but whose name you might not know. ...i know he played: J.F.K. in "Thirteen fays" and he is in Abrams' Star Trek movies (if you've seen those- You should, B.T.W.!), but he has, also, had an absolute ton of roles and continues to appear in many projects.]. Anyway: pretty legendary show. A "jumping off point" for many, many actors, but, also: existed in a time where, I feel as if, both: "Cee-Lo" and "Dangermouse" would have been exposed to it/knew about it [🤷🤷🤷] ...Even if it is NOT the source for the album's tittle, at all, *I* associate it with that show in MY memories, so....

...and yes: Sergio Leone created the "genre" which became known under the banner of "Spaghetti Westerns." He wouldn't call them that, of course, but: his work was the best (although others, of course, attempted to copy his unequivocal style!) and Ennio Morricone (whose compositions are BRILLIANT) was the primary composer for Leone's classic works! NEARLY EVERYONE recognizes the "thematic musical marker" from: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (the "pre-quel" as well as "the conclusion" (thematically and positionally - of course: NOT "chronologically" (because it, actually, "happens" BEFORE the prior two releases!))-) of the "Man With No Name" works (which are NOT, actually, "a trilogy" ...but everyone has come to think of them & TREAT them as such!)! These are the films which created & established Clint Eastwood's legend. Without them, we may never have known his name, today!! ...and, certainly: the brooding Western character he created would NOT be part of History (or might have had someone else trying to play it! 🤷🤷). Again: Ennio Morricone is AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS and deserves all of the accolades he has ever gotten, AND MORE! 🔥

Great reaction, guys! You should do more R&B songs. I highly recommend reacting to the No. 1 R&B song from 1980 by Lakeside called "Fantastic Voyage." Everyone used to rush the dance floor when the DJ started playing it. It has a little bit of rap in the beginning and middle and is so funky! If you react to it or listen to it on your own, PLEASE choose the extended 6-plus-minute version (over the 3-minute, 30-second version). It has a killer beat and bassline and harmonies and a cool electric guitar riff at the very end. They don't make 'em like this anymore. ... Keep up the great work!

Just to put you (and everyone else) straight: Throbbing Gristle are from the 1970s and, effectively, created/originated "Industrial Music," per se. ...Ministry, Skinny Puppy (Definitely: KMFDM) are, all: mutations of(?)/updates & developments of the idea (and sound) -or combinations of the "musique concrete"/"machine sounds" aesthetic with OTHER styles of music. ...You. also, "jumped ahead" with the bands you mentioned, after Throbbing Gristle [although you DID specify "the early '90s" -in which all of the bands you mentioned operated (except for Throbbing Gristle and Skinny Puppy, actually, began releasing work in the 1980s, as well) and came to notice/prominence], the primary progenitors and most important artists in the musical development of "Industrial" as "a style" and its expansion were (in no particular order, necessarily): Einstürzende Neubauten; Test Dept.; Cabaret Voltaire (in a more synth-based manner) and, then: Foetus (in all of his projects/identities) [He was, also, a "1990s contemporary." He "straddles periods, "for certain. 👍]. Ministry, really brought the style (with the metal-leaning aspects it combined with it/added) to public notice/attention [with: The Land Of rape And Honey] while Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine (and, subsequent: Broken [E.P.] and Downward Spiral], really., "made it palatable to a larger audience" and brought it commercial viability in the '90s (Trent melodicized aspects and deleted the harsher, grating, "noise" aspects of machine sounds, and used: atypical, (somewhat) non-musical or non-recognizable sounds to enhance his songwriting (instead of them being the BASIS/core element of it)]. You also left out important bands such as: Front 242 and Front Line Assembly and, even Godflesh (among others) ...but your primary mentions are, definitely, important and excellent. [[Also: bands such as: Chrome (whom, personally, I LOVE!!], Suicide, Killing Joke's early albums [🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡💙💙🖤🖤❤‍🔥] and, of course: Joy Division. While I NONE of those bands can be considered: "industrial," per se (if "at ALL!"), their influence is undeniable and aspects of what they were doing were, also, appropriated into NOT ONLY 1990s Industrial rawk, but: a great measure of other '90s music., OVERALL and underground music (of the mid-late '90s and from then ON, definitely!!), in general (of course!!)!]]

@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra yeah... I left out a lot of what you said because that's way too many words. I agree with you, but I prefer to keep it short and sweet. At first, I was only going to put Skinny Puppy (I saw them live for their Too Dark Park tour) but then had to add Ministry because they were the embodiment of 80s Industrial. I know that Throbbing Gristle isn't 80s, but they always get an honorable mention. Yeah, KMFDM came a bit later, but they were the next name to pop in my head, Front 242 would've been better. I didn't think to add NIN because NIN is basically 3rd generation Industrial. That's not a put down (I love NIN, saw them live for the Pretty Hate Machine tour), Trent's a genius, he just wasn't there in the early days. Damn, now you got me using lotsa words. So much for short and sweet. 😆😆

@@jasonmarquis7586 I dig this wavelength. (more). 😉😛 ...I hear you, though. People are too lazy to finish their own sentences, these days (never mind reading something that has more than 2 or 3 sentences!! 🙄🤯😳🤭) - SAD, actually. So: I appreciate what you meant to do (and you did it well.). ...However I am, also, "that guy" (I'm LOTS of them!! 🤣😂): when I notice something "missing" or "out of order," my natural proclivity is: to just fix it! 🤷 ...but ANYONE who knows enough (and thinks enough) TO MENTION: Throbbing Gristle has my, immediate, respect!! 🤘🤘

B.T.W. (in Throbbing Gristle references): I, actually, went to High School with she who would become Lady Jaye (before she ever met Genesis). ...it took meva while to figure it out in the following years, but... 🤷🤷 ...Anyhow: being a T.G. fan, it gave me a nice "wink" knowledge thing that I cherish. 👍

This is one of the most vocal-dependent hits ever made. Meaning 90% of the beauty is in the vocal performance. If you put an average singer on this it wouldn't even have been a hit - say for example the guy from Sugar Ray or Chris Martin

I was particularly engaged in the discussion on the sampling and how the song flowed. Interesting stuff! As the guys surmised, there appears to be 2 primary sample sources for the song. The first is "Last Men Standing" by Gianfranco and Gian Piero Reverberi from 1968. As one might imagine, this song helps give "Crazy" the "Spaghetti Western" feel but it also has the driving beat that is so integral to the tune. "Last Men Standing" is the first link above. "Stop and Check Yourself" by Garnet Mims from 1972 looks to be the other major sample for the song. It sounds like it contributes a lot to the background instrumentation to "Crazy." It is the second link above. To give an idea of the legacy that Nick mentioned, this song has been out for less than 20 years but it has already been sampled at least 20 times. There are also an incredible 60 plus cover versions already. With these kind of numbers, an argument could be made that "Crazy" is one of the most influential songs less than 20 years old. As always, great work by the guys on this one. Fascinated to see what last couple of songs remain from the marathon. 😀 #LetsHugItOut 😂
