Awesome that you kept souvenirs. Wish now that I had. I met Freddie at the hotel after the 74 show where Queen was actually the warm up band, though I’d been a fan for a year by then, and didn’t even ask for an autograph. Sounds crazy now, but he was so different offstage- very soft spoken, friendly, and human, it just seemed to me that it would’ve felt, like, inappropriate to ask for that. Anyway, it’s always nice to run into someone else who saw the same tours that I did. Memories, and in your case, memorabilia to last a lifetime.

@StevePerrysMyMan

Nope, that honor belongs to Stephen Ray Perry. He’s dubbed “The Voice,” not Freddie. Even Brian May acknowledged that Steve’s voice was once in a lifetime. Plus, this year, Steve was voted greatest male vocalist by Billboard Magazine’s fan poll. Fans picked Steve at 67%. Sorry, he just wasn’t as good as Steve. Freddy’s vocals a lot of times sound forced. I’m not saying he’s not amazing. I’m not saying he’s one of the greatest. He’s not the greatest. That distinction belongs to Steve. He can hit the highest of highs and slide down the low and back up to high again with absolutely no effort, no cracking, his voice no forced notes he’s just amazing! There’s never been anyone like him and there won’t ever be anyone like him again. If you have any doubts about that, you should go listen to the live versions of Patiently, Lay It Down, Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever, Mother/Father… Those songs I’ll have extreme local acrobatics in them and Steve has every note flawlessly live. Even in this version of somebody to love, you can hear the forced notes from Freddie sometimes. You’ll never hear that in a live version from Steve Perry. I’m not saying Freddy is an amazing like I said he is. But he is Nazi. He’s not even close to Steve Perry’s voice.

I was at that concert. I saw them twice in Montreal and at the LiveAid concert. You are right, they were better live than the studio version. Being at the Live Aid concert was the experience of a lifetime. But seeing them in Montreal also blew my mind. This was the era when musicians had pure raw talent. By the way, it wasn't beer. Freddy never drank alcool on stage. It was tea with honey and lemon. I am lucky to have been able to see some majestic concerts from Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. That was real music!!!

Speaking of respect for the other members. You should check out Brian May(the guitarist with the hair XD) performing Love Of My Life Live after Freddie past away. It's absolutely beautiful.

Back in the 70’s and 80’s, you couldn’t make people sound better in the studio,like today. All the bands were the real thing.

Oh yes we could. You'd be surprised what we could do back then. Tweak the highs, add a little reverb. Or a lot. No we didn't have Autotune, but there was a LOT we could, and did, do.

Everyone is amazing in Queen! Freddy of course stole the show every time. How could he not. So absolutely sick how talented he was! Taken away too soon! This was used as the closing song in a lot of their shows so singing that high pitched all concert is damn near impossible and the drummer is the high pitch voice throughout their albums period in the background. Outstanding and not born to see them but I missed out!

You may have already heard: When Freddie opened playing chords on the piano, he was doing a sound check, as did each musician before the set. On top of that degree of professionalism and wanting everything perfect, they had their own sound engineers who traveled with them...even to venues where other groups were playing and there were already contracted sound techs. The difference? They switched the volume limits off so that Queen played louder than any other group. The results: Wow. Breathtaking. They were each so good that louder was better!

Freddie wasn't trained vocally, however he did learn piano at school an that's about it, the rest is all hard work an training himself. The other guys Brian Roger and John were not trained only by themselves. All super talented guys, freddie just amazing all round. Beautiful man very sadly missed 😢
