What all the generations since don't understand is, we smoked a bowl, turned off the lights, poured a glass of wine, opened a beer etc, , put on our headphones in a dark room only lit by the stereo dial and the turn table light and heard it all, 100%. The 70’s we're amazing in so many different ways, and there was NEVER the need to go faster, in anything. Kick back, and enjoy the ride. Pure Bliss.

I still remember when this song came out. I was 16 and still trying to find out where I fit in. It helped me through it all. I never let anything interrupt me while it's playing.

You gentlemen are soooo cute with good hearts. I’m glad you gave this wonderful song a chance. So many gems from the 70’s are incredible. Music has the power to bring us together.

Been listening to this song since it came out. It's truly a masterpiece. It's great to see younger generations enjoying it, as it serves as proof of its timelessness.

Its important to know who Peter Lorre is to appreciate the lyrics.

What aspect of him do you mean? I remember him from the movie M, where he played a desperate, dangerous but also helpless person. According to wiki not his only disturbing character. It makes sense though.

I adore Peter Lorre, such a creepy little man!

@@75hilmar Lorre's face just lent itself to creepy/disturbing characters. There's a story I heard about a serial killer coming across on of his children and letting her go after finding out she was his daughter..... That's a whole thing right there 😅

Off by one year, YOTC was released in 76, I auditioned to play bass for Al shortly before it came out.

It did not come out until February, 1977 the reason I know this is because it played all the time and it was very popular when my friend from school and her Dad were both killed together in a car accident on February 9, 1977, I was 15 years old. Brings back some Bad memories for me, but I still Like this song.

Sorry about your friend and her dad but I am certain it was released in 1976, I auditioned to play bass for Al Stewart for the upcoming tour for YOTC and the album was released several weeks later, summer of 76 I was 21 years old
@joydunn21093 жыл бұрын
@@fatlizzard9927 You're probably right about the release date so sorry, what I was talking about is when it started getting played on the Radio, (Billboards charts etc.) I do Remember hearing "Dancing Queen" by ABBA, as well as Boston "Long Time" Kansas "Carry on" but "Year of the Cat" is the one me and my Brother every time we hear it think of Sonja and her Dad, probably because they played it soooo much on the Radio. Thank you for your kind comment. Hard to believe that was 44 years ago this past February, 9th.
