Good guy hits the bottom financially, emotionally and even physically due to betrayal and other reasons - then with conviction comes back to take revenge and sometimes one ups with forgiveness. This is the plot - this is what we expect in a Rajini movie with his swag. How do you register a good guy - he is a family man with sentiments. This is a given. Then villain is a wild card which is where you have freedom. The build up of the character is linear like padayappa or annamalai or like basha establish a backstory for sudden transformation. Raguvaran, ramya krishnan, vinayak , radha ravi..if the villain can be remembered and if one of the villain dialogue is a powerful punch that remains in audience mind, it is a blockbuster.

I don't know what these idiots were doing when Rajini pushing the envelope in terms of content and played his age in Kabali, and Kaala. Kaala infact was one of the greatest films done by Rajinikanth. Tamil cinema never lets him reinvent himself, and has kept him inside a boundary. Rajinikanth's curse is he cannot do a Cheeni Kum or a Black; or do a Paapanasam like KH. That's the curse of being a star, it kills the actor who wants to push the envelope. And let's be real, Vijay is not a good actor. He's a star yes, but not an actor. I cannot remember one good movie where is acting performance stood out. There should be no comparison of him to Rajinikanth or Kamal Hassan for that reason. Perhaps Vijay and Ajith are rightly compared because both have limited acting talents. After Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth - the only star actors are Suriya, Dhanush and Vikram.. and perhaps Vijay Sethupathi to an extent.

Darbar and annathae movie story line is ok but failure reason is, in that movie rajni reaction is little bit over reacted. This should by corrected by director in scene taken.
