I'm glad that season 5 showed us Halfdan's thoughts and feelings. Another wonderful character who was tired of battles and power. He just wants to live, to see a new worlds and meet new people. I immediately respected him after he chose his life and his dream and did not follow his brother. And I'm so happy that before he died he fulfill this dream and became a different person. I will miss him.

followerswag Exactly! He was definitely not a sympathetic or particularly likable character when first introduced, but he grew so much that he became one of my favorites. I sobbed hysterically when he died. I so wish he could have gone back exploring with Bjorn, and lived a life of adventure and discovery. Oh well, at least he's in Valhalla.

I know right... at first i didn't like him, seemed to be prone to betray the others for his own interests. But then you discover he just wants to learn from life and accept everything it teaches... I almost identify myself with him now lol

Same, I thought Halfdan was a complete fucked up character who will do shit cause of his madness but it appears he was the best character of the show. So much intelligence and wisedom in one person. So sad he died, but he died as true loyal viking. Not betraying his brother, not betraying Bjorn and lived as he wanted.

The truth about Halfdan is that he didn't betray his brother... He didn't want to betray Bjorn too because he was such a loyal person! So the result was to meet his brother in battle and he didn't even turn his sword against him!

The only way to do right by both Harald and Bjorn would've been to stay out of the conflict between them, or at the very least not settle on a side to fight for. As sad as I am to say it, Halfdan did betray his brother. Then again, Harald also betrayed Halfdan.

I totaly disagree! He was sworn to be in Bjorn's side always, before even Bjorn and Harald decide to fight! That my friend is called loyalty! If he would run away from this, he wouldn't keep his promise and he will called "coward"!

Of everyone who died during this "civil war", Halfdan death is probably the one who saddened me the most and, in my opinion was a mistake. His journey with Bjorn was just beginning and there was so much more things to tell with this character. I truly believed that Halfdan would have been to Bjorn what Floki was to Ragnar. Great tribute Zurik !

Agreed, his death came too soon. He could have been Björn's right hand all the way through, but instead... In a sense, I think he should have been what Rollo was to Ragnar.

I wacthed Bjorn's death and it was a great scene but it felt empty in some ways. I think Halfdan would be amazing in those scenes leading the attack after the Bjorn's death and dying in same battle.

@@livelyheart382 Yeah, but it was a joke and one with a double meaning, because his brother is much more perceptive than Harald himself, and at times more ruthless, and Harald knows this. So in many ways by saying his brother is 'worse', he means his brother is even more formidable, so a compliment to his brother. Language is a complex game with many subtleties.

The scene in which Halfdan hands the dagger to Harald, where he talks to his beloved, proves that Halfdan is the most loyal person in the series. he always wanted the best for his brother, supported him in every situation, was ready to die for him. Beautiful figure

Halfdan is embodiment of a true Viking. If every northerner would’ve been like him, then The Norse would live on forever. He was against fighting his brothers. He wanted to explore the world. He was humorous and skilled in combat. He was loyal, smart and ambitious. The one who didn’t want power or glory. He just wanted to experience everything life had to offer.

Halfdan was the most spiritually awakened imo. He just wanted to enjoy his life and be loyal to Bjorn for giving him the respect and experiences he never gotten from his brother. My favourite, after Ragnar of course.

Halfdan was a true viking warrior, he was a noble man who felt he owed Bjorn for saving his life, even fighting against his own brother. Harold's heart was not pure like Halfdan's, that made Halfdan the better man. When I first saw him, I thought he was crazy, then as you see his character grow and I was sad when Harold killed him.

Yes. Almost a hundred percent similar story. One chose a woman, another chose a friend and both died from their brother's sword.

the way harald says "i will see you in valhalla...see you in valhalla.." and keeps repeating it, almost like he's reassuring Halfdan as much as he is reassuring himself "it's ok... don't be afraid... we will see each other again..."

Man I love your tributes. So sad to see Halfdan gone, I loved him as a character and he really started to grow on me. Wish Harald spares him like Ubbe spared Hvitserk but oh well. I’ll miss him but I guess Halfdan and Harald will re-unite in Valhalla.

I really grew to like him! He had one of the most fascinating character developments in the last seasons! Would be epic if you make a tribute about Astrid :) She also was one of the most awesome and strongest characters this season! A shame they killed her off :(

We'll she didn't want to live because she couldn't betray Harold or Lagatha. She wanted Lagatha to kill her because she couldn't have a child born from the gang rape she experienced. you could see it ate her up inside throughout the season. She couldn't do that to Harold.

Черт, это прям до слез...реально плачу. Такого персонажа убили(((( но такое потрясающее видео ты сделал. я знала, что он вряд ли долго проживет, но в 5 сезоне он мне так сильно понравился. С момента, когда он сказал, что не хочет быть братом конунга Норвегии, а хочет путешествовать. И после этого всего безумно захотелось сделать видео, правда лучше тебя уже не сделаешь)да и я внимания много не уделяла, чтобы запоминать нужные моменты, но я наверно попробую. Как всегда шедевр, как всегда настолько красиво и эмоционально! Спасибо за все эти эмоции, Зурик. Просто обожаю!

Zurik's videos should be mandatory viewing for any Viking fan. Halfdan was becoming on of my favorite characters when he started showing his loyalty to Bjorn. I wonder will Herald reflect on killing him?
