Had to bury my dog this am, he died protecting me from a stray dog that wants me dead. Shortly after I buried him, I heard Ravens... never have I heard Ravens in the entire 4 yrs I lived at my house. I do believe, since my dog died a Warrior's death, Odin came for him.

It is a reference to Odin, one of his names was the wandering one, he sometimes picked up people that he liked on his travels (he was also the god of death) and as the leader of the Valkyries (and father to several) he made sure they followed him after their death IE Your Dog is now following Odin on his travels as the wandering one.

As a Scandinavian american, I love studying my ancestors, the Vikings, and their almost forgotten religion. I find it interesting how Valhalla is still used in movies and TV shows even though the culture itself is almost unknown

Putting the warrior on a pedestal and giving them a special place in the afterlife is partly because of needing men to fight and die to protect ones nation from its enemies and the reason some tribes and nations remained free and other where conquered even genocided and such warriors where needed for all the ages even the most ancient including the times of nomads before it was warm enough to farm in Europe and in modern times long before the earth warmed and farming beginning allowing the rise of civilizations and empires. Civilizations rides on the backs of farmers and the reason the gods of the hunts could be the oldest gods worshiped and in the age of the Germanic tribes Freya and Thor where believed to be the most favorite gods of the people . Thor bringing thunder and rain and Freya having to do with the fertility of the soil. gods that have connections to farming and what we know in the modern ages as being practical .

Ronin had a moment with strangers at Epcot, once. I was in the Vikings exhibit and I guess I was louder than I meant to be because when I said “lo there do I see my father...” someone else said the next verse, then someone different said the third verse, etc...we finished, nodded, and went on with our vacations.

Clark Thompson You are right. Until today lot of small town citizens (or hillbillies) living here in Lofoten, are extrem suspicious against foreigners. I haven’t been able to stop watching this ever since I found it a couple of days ago. Forgive me if this sounds crazy, but this song speaks to me. A couple of nights ago I found out from my grandmother I have Viking ancestors that settled in York, so I have Viking blood and it’s part of my heritage. This is the part that sounds crazy, but this song has awakened something in me I didn’t know was there. Amazing song!!
