Gorgeously dreamlike colour images of (then) French India - present-day Puducherry.
These gorgeous stencil-coloured images of French India - present-day Puducherry - have a dreamlike quality. The arrival of a well-to-do European family, dutifully attended to by the locals, gives a semblance of narrative to what is largely a purely picturesque escapist experience - transporting Western viewers to an out-of-time 'exotic' netherworld.
This was a French production but like many of the travel films so popular in early cinema it travelled widely itself - hence this version with English language titles.

@@mangeshhercule1193 You are right,after my higher studies,my father sent me to France. They helped me to rise in a higher position.If it is in india,cast recommandation,Monet would have played .Not only my children are in top most situation.I never felt that they treated me as a slave. That's why many pondicherians tamils left pondy to france.But after indépendance only pondicherians became slave to north indians. Pondy university,jipmer,enginering collège etc,only few pondicherians are admited,remaining for other state people. All the ias,ips bank officers are from other states.But before pondicherians were in all the important jobs. Probably british treated indians as slaves but not french. Now punjabis are coming massivly to settle in France.

Movie cameras have been around since the 1890s. This was probably shot in black and white then colourised by hand as was normal for colour reels of the time.
