Albert Lee is in a class by himself....Vince knows he's in the presence of greatness. Putting them together on the same stage can't be beat, unless you add James Burton to the mix.

Well, I found this video by accident! Glad I did. I got to meet Vince in Jan 2000 at the Phoenix Open, along with Amy Grant, before they got married in Mar 2000. They both signed a visor for me, and while he was doing that, I told him I was a country musician and knew he collected Martin AG's. Told him I had a vintage D-18, and he looked up quick, and said, ya wanna sell it? I said nah, it was my first guitar that my parents bought me. He smiled and said, I don't blame you. BOTH are a Class Act. And as for Albert, one of the true unheralded guitarists of all time, and co-wrote Skaggs' Country Boy! I have front row tickets to see Albert and Jeremy Clyde (of Chad & Jeremy duo days) in early Aug, at the MIM here in PHX. Can't wait. OH and by the way, that guy in the back with his signature white hat is no slouch on the fiddle either, that's Mark O'Connor. Vince has his own style too, as I could hear a song and say, that's Vince playing that lead. SO melodic.

Two of the best and two of my favorites, no doubt. But I don’t think Gill has a b-bender on his Tele. Not sure about Lee -- looks like he may have one, but the camera doesn’t stay on him long enough for me to tell for sure. Those guys are so good at string-bending right on the fretboard that they really don’t need it. What a performance.

I don't like nasty comments - life is too short. I watched Albert a few weeks ago in Aberdeen, Scotland in a small venue. He is not too proud to play for the people for a modest fee. As usual, he was magnificent, as were Hogan's Heroes. By the way, who is Jessi Perkins? If she wants to hear a guitar monster, she should listen to Tommy Emmanuel, one of the greatest players on the planet. Love to all, Big Brian.

Pretty funny that someone on this thread (Jessi Perkins) claims that Vince Gill never paid his dues, and claims to know him well, know less. She obviously doesn’t know him well enough to be aware of all of the people and bands he played for as a side man as he worked his way up. Even at the height of his fame, he never stopped paying his dues as a studio musician, often playing on obscure albums. Did it before he was famous, did it while he was famous, and he continues to do it today. Eric Clapton selected him for a prominent role at his Crossroads festivals, and he was invited to join Dire Straits at one point. Didn’t pay his dues... that’s just plain goofy and ignorant.

Well I lived in the South Bay Area of So Cal And I remember Vince playing his Martin on the Hermosa Beach pier for tips. in the 70's .Back then he was part of the South Bay 'Country Boys, with Emmylou, Rodney, Ricky Scaggs, Delbert, and others They would hang out at the Sweetwater club in Redondo Beach. I remember seeing Albert at Tower Records in Pasadena for a Laurel Canyon Ramblers in store gig.He was just waiting for the gig just like the rest of us. Sorry to hear Vince became a jerk

Jessi Perkins, if I were you father I'd be kicking you sorry butt out into the street. These are guys who have paid their dues and have made modest fortunes, for example, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs $15 and $20 million respectively, and these are God-fearing, humble, nice people who thank the Lord for everything with which he's blessed them. Compare that to Bill Clinton and Sean Penn, net worth $80 (additional $79 since he left office) and Sean Penn $200 million each, both are snide, disrespectful, arrogant, corrupt and immoral. But all four of these men pay taxes. What's with the fair share business? Isn't there a fair share the unemployed and the welfare mothers should have to pay?

Scott Murphy Evidently you know nothing much about Vince Gill. There have been many respected people who publicly praise Vince for his character as a man. "He's the kind of man you would hope your daughter would marry or your son would grown up to be" says Max D. Barnes who with Vince co- wrote "Look At Us" , which the CMA names 1992 song of the year. ( from the liner of album "Souvenirs". That is one of many examples of people who talk about Vince Gill. Most recent you would find in an article in Rolling Stone about Vince for the review at CMA 2014. You need to find the truth before you display your ignorance.

I've got news for you: Albert Lee was responsible for much of Mr Knoflers success. I know Vince fairly well. Don't like the man; he is in one word, arrogant. A "silver spooned" kid with talent. Married into a fortune on top of that as his wife comes from a very wealthy family. He hasn't paid his dues, simple as that. I have zero respect for him. Albert, on the other hand, is a magnificent "MAN". A guitar players "Guitar Player". Takes no credit, is so kind, humble, and respectful of his fans.
