One of the default controls for the PC version, was the Print Screen button, for jumping off a cable at a platforming section early on. I'm not kidding, I have beaten this on PC eons ago and just went back to my screenshots of this on Steam to confirm my memory of that. Yup, Atari worked on this alright. The same people who made a telephone/dial for a controller. Print Screen for jumping checks out for them.

Atari died in '93. This was entirely those French weirdos over at Infogrames. Even French players were baffled because the AZERTY keyboard layout keeps Print Screen way off in the top above the page command keys just like QWERTY.

Emulation is usually really good and can even improve games in terms of framerate, performance and visual clarity. Wii emulators support bluetooth wiimotes so you COULD go with that if you don't want to map motion controls on buttons. The latter is working fine for games like DKCR (shoulder button to smash the ground instead of shaking is so good) but for motion control heavy games like this one it's not always feasible

"The Light Bringer" is Lucifer, i.e. Satan. In the ending you have the choice of letting Satan take Sarah or killing the hell out of her so he takes Edward instead. If you let him take Sarah he goes "nyeh nyeh you got no bitches" and Edward goes "i'm used to it : (" and mopes away

I have a funny story about this game. Back in the day, I had this gaming magazine CD that had a trailer for this game and I thought it was the sickest game ever. I found it later in a store and bought it, but my old PC was so bad it couldn't even run it, and years later after getting a new one, I could finally play it. After 10-15 minutes, I realized it was the biggest piece of crap and got so mad. I still have it on my shelf.

That is exactly what happened to me with this game. Read about it in a magazine and watched a ton of videos about it on the DVD included with the magazine and was so excited about it lol I missed out on a lot of games from 2007 to 2013 era because I had a potato for a PC. After finally getting an semi-modern PC I tried playing some of them and just realized that I actually didn't miss out that much. A lot of those games aged terribly.

I bought a pre-owned copy of the Wii version in my local gamestore after watching a let's play of the 360 version, not knowing it was a completely different game. I returned the same day to refund it (used games had a 7 day-free return policy) because it was so aweful and the driving section was impossible to control. I believe I traded it in for the Wii Thrillville game

I don't think there's anything they could've done to improve the health mechanic, I mean, getting visibly wounded doesn't mean much since it's hard to tell how hurt the character is based on flesh wounds alone.

This game had tons of weird ambitious ideas, with a physical inventory system and crafting mechanics, environmental objects could be used as weapons and set on fire, fire-fighting and breaking down doors and stuff... But the controls were just awful, especially the mandatory driving sections. I never made it past the first driving escape scene with the roads collapsing, and it was so damn long as well with no checkpoints

OH MY GOD! HE PLAYED IT! Well... it's the Wii version. Close enough, I guess. I actually really like this game (not the Wii version) for how campy and janky it is. If anyone wants to play this uncut gem of a game, get yourself a PlayStation 3 (or RPCS3) and play that version. It's called Alone in the Dark: Inferno, and it has a fair bit of quality-of-life improvements as well as some bug fixes. One part of this game you cannot shit on is the soundtrack. The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices choir absolutely killed it! I've been listening to that soundtrack since I was a teenager, and I still listen to it to this day!

It's a good thing you didn't play the Wii version, because it sucks. The mainline versions are bad, yes, but at least you can play them. This version (plus the PS2 release) was so bad, Atari threatened the websites who gave this release harsh reviews with lawsuits claiming that they couldn't have possibly critique the finished game as no advanced copies had been released, as such saying that they had illegally downloaded a shotty rom. Turns out Atari was in the wrong as some executives actually sent out the review copies to the review websites. They weren't shotty versions... They were actual review copies of the finished product.

pc version was unplayebel i have it and it is garbage cant get past the tutorial of some weird know bug where the building colapses waaaaaaay to fast and there is nothing you can jump to as you glitch trough every other thing that looks like a floor
