Whenever I visit my elderly mother in Scotland, we watch DVDs of his specials. The subtext of him playing multiple parts is that he typically played every role in his sketches.

So my dad was in his late 20s when MGS came out, and he mentioned in passing that he had played it the year it came out, because I asked if he ever had a playstation. I remember showing him the Focus commercial like 2 years ago when it resurfaced and he thought it was the funniest thing. That commerical always makes me happy.

There's some really great stuff related to that (fantastic) Dig Dug theater spot on KZfaq and elsewhere, including a vintage Entertainment Tonight behind-the-scenes featurette (the practical effects were done by the same team responsible for Poltergeist and Gremlins!) and the original unused version of the "Dig Dug Dance" song (since it was a parody of '60s doo-wop Chubby Checker had initially been hired but his version went unused and forgotten until the son of one of Atari's ad execs managed to find the original cassette a few years ago).

I saw that Hitman 2 commercial out of context when I was in high school. It was titled something like "Woman in Russia Gets Shot for Cutting in Line" with a LiveLeak watermark in the corner and everything, minus the actual Hitman 2 logo at the end. So for the longest time, I thought it was real. That's crazy that that was an actual commercial that aired on television!
