I went back and played this after watching, fun game, very against the storm/rimworld. Vinny if you happen to read this and decide to play again, you can set the pips to not eat certain foods with the button in top left. Restricting them from eating all the raw meat will definitely help out a bit.

That sun domain was such a bastard. In my run his mini-apocalypse stunned everyone of my watchers, guaranteeing an auto-lose on his upcoming dice roll. You can't win on a casual playthrough unless you are metagaming hard with the wikis and stuff. Especially with the surplus mechanic

Yeah, this is a damn good recommendation for Vinny. Pips remind me of Baldies. Going by the name alone I thought it was going to be something related to 3D Dot Game Heroes or Half-Minute Hero. It's weird just how long it takes to discover burials while the dead pip was generating sickness that whole time.

so happy vin played this as i couldn't decide whether or not to buy it and i can never pay attention to gameplay videos when it's not a creator i don't follow. rimworld was super overwhelming for me but i also personally hate having to learn entire new game systems. the UI alone makes this one feel a lot more simple and easy to digest. excited to dive into this one myself after this vid

The one problem with Vinny playing games like this pre-recorded is that Chat cannot point out he's doing something dumb when he inevitably misses or forgets about a mechanic, at which point it becomes an incresingly frustrating watch. Once he forgot about the Shared Table it was all over.

Wait wait wait, why does this use the sound effects from the Cinnamon desktop environment? When Vinny clicks on the bushes that's the same sound as edge snapping a window in Cinnamon, and when he clicks on the next arrow in the "Memory Retrieved" screen that's the unmaximize window sound.

What i learned after playing this game for nearly 2 days straight (oops) is that it snowballs FAST. In the mid to late game, events start happening more and more frequently. So, if you miss one, it means youre definitely not equipped for the next one thats coming in a week. That warning wasnt kidding, this game is not easy

The first background music is a midi version of apocalypse orchestra-in the garden of earthly delight. Very slightly modified. Second track also sounds like them. Can't remember the name of the second one though

Crazy opinion because I hated ATS, but what Ive seen of dotAGE so far it has the perfect aesthetic and perfect music and amazing gameplay and- Its the real GOTY 2023😭😭 (The music quite literally made me lose a tear, Jesus...)

@@aturchomicz821 the majority of the music is actually all traditional medieval songs reorchestrated with modern instruments/synths according to the dev. And also yeah they are just different games. DotAge is way more play at your own pace, less rng heavy, and gives you tools to plan ahead and know what bad stuff might be coming when. To me it almost plays like a tabletop game where against the storm feels a lot more city builder/rts and has a pretty consistent oppressive gameplay vibe (which I enjoy too). It's awesome that both exist.
