@@marvelousball The games are good, but I guess it just feels like they went so much further on the other collections, especially the collections that aren't even on the plus. I guess the Gameboy collection also feels a bit small, did they have trouble with handheld games or something? I mean the N64 collection is even pretty good (I do hope they add in Mystic Ninja Goemon and Mischief Makers though)

@@RPGfreakiod it’s not that they have trouble with GBA games, it’s just that they are running out of games to drip-feed on the other consoles. Even N64 is starting to run out of heavy hitters. They’re taking the slow approach of dropping one game at a time over the course of months, especially since GBA is probably the end of the line for NSO (at least on this iteration of the Switch)

I am partially upset, not because Vinny is wrong or he can't have an opinion.... but it seems like Genesis music always gets ragged on online while SNES music doesn't for some reason despite there being some bad examples of it as well.... its a bit unfair and probably justifies why Sega fans get upset. Both soundchips can do cool stuff if you know your chiptune, but there's a clear line between expressing your opinion (I don't like Sega genesis music personally) vs making your opinion sound like facts (GENESIS MUSIC IS GARBAGE 🙄) and the latter is what is seen in the comment sections of most Genesis soundtracks. That being said, I honestly think EWJ1 is better on the Genesis because the game was released first on that console and has all the levels intact as opposed to SNES which had one missing level but stil fares well graphically and audibly though some bass sections in the SNES version are out of tune as opposed to the Genesis version.

25:00 SNES multiplat games sounded better because third-party Genesis developers often used the default patches in GEMS (the music editor SEGA gave to all their licensed developers). FM Synth generates some *amazing* music but you need to be a god damned Yamaha-approved genius in order to figure out how to bend the tone generators to what you want. The average multiplat developer is not going to be an expert musician. (Though there are some exceptions: Tim Follin's work on the unreleased Time Trax is *absolutely superb*.) On the SNES the equivalent music editor was Kankichi-kun. Because the SNES could play sampled sounds, it's far easier to just sample good instruments. (This also applies to the Amiga, except the music editor is a hacked pirate copy of Ultimate Soundtracker.) So the quality floor for music on the SNES is higher. Though to be honest, it's not that much higher, because your samples have to all live in 64k of RAM. If you wanted to sound good on the SNES you needed to squeeze as much audio data in there as you could. (David Wise's sound driver for DKC would loop and fade samples. The one in SNES Earthworm Jim actually streams its samples to save RAM, which fucks with emulators something fierce because of how they did it.)

1:25:05 My earliest memory of Majora's Mask was me walking with my family in a mall, sometime in 2000 I think, and we stopped by a game or electronics store, and there was a demo unit of MM, and it was the Deku Link bit of the beginning. I was like "Hey, is that the new Zelda? Boy, Link sure does look weird in this one." Another early MM memory was, me and/or my bros playing a Team Fortress Classic golf map on our sole PC in the living room (that had a whopping 4 GB hard drive), and the golf ball was a square. I think someone else mighta been playing MM at the same time. Majorpo's Borpo is still one of my favorite Zorldos.

When it comes to Gameboy/GBA games on NSO, I personally recommend going to settings and turn on "Reproduce classic feel" and Small screen display as the size matches the size of the original screen while on Switch handheld mode. It honestly makes the visuals of the games as close to how it was supposed to be displayed on a Gameboy/Advance. Both of these options even makes Alone in the Dark look less of a blurry mess.

Weirdly this was exactly the kind of stream I wanted from vinny for a while. I love seeing him check out games, and I'd love for him to play more of these when he has gaps in his schedule. I doubt he'd ever do some of these full length even if they're relatively short, but at least he gets exposure to them and I think that's fun. It's just a really fun stream

No matter what, I will always love both Nintendo and Sega. I still can't believe a bunch of people are still thinking that they're still enemies still to this day, I think the fact that people are still thinking about that is absolutely ridiculous. Sure. The console wars in the '90s was weird and all but Nintendo and Sega aren't enemies anymore and they're actually friends in reality.

Only if they find a way for the Switch to work like the Wii U Gamepad and display to the tv while also displaying on the built in display all the touch screen stuff. Edit: Given how it took Nintendo years to add support for bluetooth headphones through a simple update, dont count on it. Also I think the switch would shit itself if it tried. Its a possibility for the Super Nintendo Switch though.

I use a really convoluted method of avoiding capture card audio delay. Plug the switch into an HDMI switch box that has an audio extractor. (Any device is find as long as it has an audio extractor) Use auxiliary cable from HDMI box into either Line In or Mic port on your PC's motherboard. Use Windows sound settings to play back the mic audio. In Windows 11, open settings > system > sound > more sound settings. Select the recording tab and enter the properties of either Line In or Microphone that your Switch is connected to. Click the listen tab and check "Listen to this device" Plug the HDMI switch box into capture card and capture as normal. You may need to mute the stream playback window on your PC so you don't get double audio.

No... There have been plenty games released at 70 bucks that are honestly pretty high quality. Between God of War Ragnarok, Horizon, Resident Evil 4 and Tears of the Kingdom to name some examples, prices has nothing to do if the game will be shitty or not, the old rule of "Is it EA/Ubisoft/Activition/Bethesda? On the Capture card -- Might not help much but I was having a similar issue while using the Elgato Hd, updated to the HD60s and it works great. Also, if you are using OBS, and monitoring the gameplay audio through advanced audio properties, *sometimes I need to use the dropdown to select Monitor Off, and back to Monitor and Output* If this is not done, there might be about a second of sound delay. It seems to have something do to with switching audio sources on windows while OBS is open, but not sure.

I always have to think of Zero Wing Rhapsody's song when I see the Zero Wing intro now. The Sega CD Earthworm Jim part reminded me that The Terminator on Sega CD had some pretty crazy music. Metroid Prime Pinball is great. The rumble pak in GBA cartridge form was amusing too. I remember Super Circuit having some pretty unique mechanics like setting red shells as homing mines and braking to negate spinning out from bananas and puddles. I tried to get 3* rankings in all the cups back then. Looking it up now, it turns out the ranking system is pretty crazy! I actually played Spanky's Quest on my cousin's GB. Pretty weird action game by Natsume with good music where you keep bouncing a projectile to attack. 0:22:56 - Inanimate car survives. 0:25:55 0:26:05 - You sound tiny. 0:34:44 0:41:16 - Vas deferens music. 0:53:39 - Nice sync. 0:58:22 - Is it weird that NES Gems had S.C.A.T. and now this is showcased soon after? 1:29:32 - Sp 1:43:19 1:44:59 - I didn't know that was Vinny's VA until long after watching that episode. 1:48:33 2:01:09 - Game Boy lighting technique.

One main problem with NSO is that every time you try and think of a positive, you just end up comparing it to something better. Like I could compliment the emulation but there’s better on PC. I could say it’s better than virtual console on the Wii U…oh wait it doesn’t have native button remapping. It’s not only overpriced but it just falls short on the things it does right, but you didn’t me to tell you that.
@hododod246

Okay NSO is overpriced but I think virtual console were way more overpriced. I think that 5 to 10 dollar price for each game were too much. If you want to buy let's say all Pokemon games in 3ds which are game boy pokemon games not even gba games, I think you were paying something close to 100 dollars.

I dislike this mindset, people ask for Nintendo to make their older games accessible, and when Nintendo does that people say “oh well I can already emulate this so why buy it” I honestly think that might be one of the reason why Nintendo doesn’t do emulation as much, simply due to not very many people buying them. I mean, outside of dudes from the 80s/90s that grew up with these old games, how many people are really playing them?
