These Super Mario Maker levels are getting out of hand

SMBs physics always felt the best to me. The deliberate nature of movement required is really satisfying once you get the hang of it, and though Mario slides and stuff, the controls are so spot-on responsive that even though press left doesn't immediately make you go left in the air, it does make you immediately feel the weight shift...

It never occurred to me how incredibly odd it is that Mario has a score.

This is a stupid observation but that knock sound effect is genius. Not just because of the idea but the way it was implemented. The first knock is behind you to the left. The next one is to your right. That's genius because when you hear it you turn around behind you to your left and your door is no longer to your left, it's to your right now. Then the second knock comes in and it's to your right. That would freak me the fuck out if i heard that on a normal stream and it wasn't acknowledged by anyone

I would love to see you try some Super Mario Maker. Maybe try a 100 mario challenge on expert, then super expert. Nothing like trying to make a jump only to hit a hidden block and die lol.

The physics are weird because they are very linear: you will very suddenly shift from moving eg. 2 pixels per frame to 3 and 4 after you've been in the running state for long enough. The Mario games after this one all properly interpolate this figure, making the acceleration very smooth instead. It's actually the reason I don't like this game very much.

This stream is weird. As an older viewer, this really feels like an older stream, say maybe from 2013-14. It's got a way more chill, cozy feel like those older streams did. I really thought I was watching an older stream until I looked at the upload date.
