In case you don't know, todd clarified that solo is not single player. You can go quest on your own, but other players are still in the game

I'm wondering if it means you can have a server all to yourself if you want or if it's just plain impossible to play without the possibility of other people joining. He talked about "joining friends" so that means you have at least some control of which server you play, so I'm curious.

Well I mean if you can "join your friends" whenever you want, I was curious if that meant a private server for friends or if it just means going to the same random public one as them, but it's probably a public one. I just thought it'd be cool to be allowed to have a room where no one else can join so you can play alone.

You can host and run your private server, with mods, yes. Though there's only robots and enemies, no humans or other NPCs. So, as a single player, it might be a bit rough. Although you "Never see a server" that just means that it's drop in/drop out unless you go poking around specifically looking for a server.

While I was saddened by the lack of Prime 4 from Nintendo, I was so giddy when those drums started beating in the Doom teaser. I have made so many friends from playing that game and I can't wait to relive the experience with a hopefully even better multiplayer.
