Attack on Titan early on is nothing compared to Vinland Saga, then the Retaking of Wall Maria arc happens and HOLY SHIT things get crazy good from there. The War for England arc and the Farm arc of Vinland Saga are some of the best story telling and competent writing that I've read in a comic period.

The worst part of Vinland Saga is the lack of black lesbian Vikings! Which is blatant historical revisionism #BlackLesbianVikingErasure

I get that Eren is edgy shonen protagonists but, show(Attack on Titan) is self aware about this like Vinland saga

Well I just finished it Thorfinn honestly reminds me of Guts They are both insects in a more important persons world. Guts is to Griffith as Thorfinn is to Askerladd.

Thorkell does kinda have a characther arc in the Prologue. His arc is that he lost his opportunity to pursue his destiny (by scaping with Thors) and has spent the last 26 years in complete stagnation, unable to find out what makes a true warrior.

Vinland saga as the name suggest: a saga, thorkell uppercuts the horse, being 10 feet tall and using a log as a club and throwing weapon are actually how saga are usually written/told. They are mainly a battle report or a short story but the person and his deed are often exaggerated.

Anime of the year 2019

I thought the ending was perfect. It managed to wrap up pretty much every relevant character arc besides Thorfinn (and even his finished at a satisfying point), and ended with one of the most climactic moments in the show. It also was the ending to the true protagonist of the show, Askelaad. The final shot of the dagger falling and simultaneously show a montage of how we (and specifically Thorfinn) got to this point was flawless.

Askeladd personifies every thing about anti heroes that I love. Such a stud of a character so deep and I would love more of his growing up story.

I really like the subtle character design of Askeladd having one eye open wider than the other, it's something small but kind of neat how often it happens

I think a better description of this is if Shakespeare leaned about anime and was just given full reign to do what he wanted.

It's kind of sad and yet funny going back and watching videos made by people at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, looking so hopefully toward the future.

What is really cool about this adaption is that it's not just like the manga but manages to be just as good. Anyone who enjoys what they see here will have a lot to look forward to in the manga same goes for those of us who read the manga first.

Really sad this got slept on so hard, it's only one of the better anime that have come out over he last few years and continuing on with the Manga, it REALLY doesn't disappoint after the part it ends at.

It would've been my anime of the year, but then Beastars came out, but Askeladd is my favourite character from 2019. Also, the Farm Arc is going to be great, some of the best character development is in those chapters.

It's also interesting of note that certain scenes and an entire episode are made purely for the anime, and as a newly minted Manga reader, it's pretty hard to think that those scenes aren't a part of the source given how goddamn good they are and how they fit so well.

The show's biggest problem is that it's on Amazon Prime; it probably won't have more than 2 seasons. In fact, it's crazy that it got a second season. I don't know what's with that, but Prime drops every damn anime after season 1. They might expect them to perform like mayor live action series or something and obviously anime is more of a nich thing.

Eh it was okay. Didn't really grab me, Thorfinn is still unlikeable at the end, the overarching story didn't interest me, some character arcs were rushed as hell. Great animation, art and music. Definitely shows where WIT's budget went. *ggrrrr*
