Wonder Bread - with 8 essential vitamins. Vitamins that were taken out during the manufacture of the "sheet of starch" are then put back in. Advertising silliness to the 100th power. In my humble opinion, a vitamin pill and two pieces of cardboard would do the same job.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I used to work for Silvercup back in the day right up to their bankruptcy and closing. All of the employees were screwed out of two weeks pay without a word of closing.

Wonder bread company was forced by law to fortify their wonder bread with vitamins.Bread made with bleached white flour has very little nutritional value, thus the add was totally deceptive.

Manufactured bread today is also enriched, and usually has 16 or more vitamins and minerals added to it, versus just the original 8 back in the 50s-60s. Just look at the ingredients on any package of bread from a grocery store, unless it is a whole grain bread, the first ingredient is almost always enriched wheat. Manufacturers do this because during the milling process to make things like white bread, much of the nutrition is lost as most of it is in the hull and bran of the grain. Whole grain bread does not suffer this same level of nutrition loss as it is far less processed than white bread is.
