This is by far the most extreme restoration I have worked on. And I really don't know if he can be restored to anything much at all. Take a look and see how I get on.

This is battle damage action man, the real possible effects of being a soldier. Of course having a field medic like you makes all the difference.

Yes! At 13:50 you ask if this is worth it - and it IS! Not because it gets a figure which is collector-grade or A-grade or anything, but because the process is fun. I've watched a lot of your channel (kind of addicted to it; send help) and I think that is what shines through - the restoration of these toys is the fun part, that is the "hobby". It is like my hobby of miniature building - yes, it is quicker and easier to buy a new kit and assemble it from scratch and then you have it for the shelf or gaming table . . . but if you want "bang for your hobby buck" then a $10 eBay rescue and three days of paint stripping and sanding and rebuilding things with styrene and casting replacement components is much better value. People's mileage my vary, but I for one love the building and painting and so forth part of the hobby, so any kit which is complicated or needs work or whatever is a win in my book.

Imagine if this was in Toy Story, a Combat Carl figure was in a deep, depressing broken hibernation, then a cleaner restores him to his former handsome self... after thinking he'd never look normal again.

Farmer's tan is a good way to put it, especially since the replacement hands have the slightly redder-than-original tone to them, as well.

Really interesting and helpful video. Just a tip that I have used for Action Man in the same sort of state - T-cut removes the staining although as you mentioned it sort of gives the plastic a more flesh like color but that is no bad thing.

Brilliant! It's so cool that you saved him - think of all those adventures he had with his previous owner(s) that would have gone to the tip with him otherwise, and been lost; we may not know what they were, but they still live on in some fashion in his little plastic form, and may be re-lived at some point again in the future. Utterly fantastic job, sir! Be safe. :)

Amazing job! Watching your videos I was able to restore my brother's collector King Kong. It has very weak pegs on the arms so they broke. He tried to super glue them several times but they were just too heavy and kept falling apart, so I saw you Rancor and Wampa restoration and helped me so much to finally put both arms back into a wonderful piece that is back on display, otherwise it will be somewhere in a box.

I quite enjoyed that this was a longer video, Dave. I really appreciate watching you restore toys, so it was nice to get a little longer running time with your update! As always, you astound!
