This guy is shaping things but not restoring, mostly using the wrong tools. His eye sight equals his knowledge of restoration and his lack of feeling for antiques. Watching him lets me shiver.

Great job love the handle what I love about a hold me cleavers as you can modify them and not normally have to worry cuz I made out of so much thick material you can modify them just a little bit and it won't make a difference

That was a metal polish on felt wheel if I remember right

Great work! Nice handle work too! The pitting is "character" but also a hygiene issue making the blade harder to clean between uses. It looked pretty thick but wonder if the pitting could have been ground out without taking away too much thickness?

Why do restorers stipple the metal with a punch when there is deep pitting?

Why change the shape of the cleaver. You take away the shape and you take away the character. Its no longer a butchers cleaver now its just a cleaver.

Put your power tools away and do it by hand then you might learn the process better, those brass inserts have gaps from not being clamped properly. Number one rule when clamping…when you think you have clamped it enough, put more clamps on. I am a semi retired knife maker so not just some internet wannabe. All things considered not a bad job considering all the rubbish tools you used. But knife making and restoration is a learning curve. Good luck with future projects I hope you get to invest a little more in tooling and one final thing…..slow down and enjoy the process, it’s more satisfying that way.
