This commercial chokes me up. Times were so much better in many ways, when they were simple and innocent.

You are so RIGHT!! The 70's were a great time to be a kid as well as be innocent in so many ways! I too, would love to turn the clock back & just revisit all the things that made that time so wonderful! God Bless!

OMG, I'm gonna cry! I haven't seen this commercial in ages! The '70s really were a good time to be a child, and perhaps the last time to be an innocent child, rather than a marketing commodity. Everything made sense back then. I wish I could revisit the '70s.

@shmuli9 You are so right about cable! In 1976 we moved to an area that was blocked from TV signals by mountains, and had to get cable -- but it was exactly the same as broadcast TV. Then in the late 70's they actually added a MOVIE CHANNEL !!! Whoa! Still in all, I liked far more TV on those old 12 channels than the 150 I get nowadays.

There was this toy that my mom had when she was a little girl during the 70-early 80's and it was a dog that when you push it's stomach it talks, laughs and I believe it was supposed to be a decetive. It had a deerstalker hat and other things I'm sure. All I know was that when it started to completely die in the 90's it scared the crap out of me. That's how I can remember it. My mom doesn't remember it at all! I was wondering if someone knew what I was talking about or in that general area!

@jusuwa LMAO! I never understood this song, and when I was a kid I would listen intently whenever the commercial came on, trying to figure it out. That's exactly how it sounded too. "Inchworm, gaaadnwooo, wonchu widme everwheraku" Now that I know the words, well...that's gotta be one of the stupidest songs for a commercial I've ever heard. Even back then, the "Ride up and down and up and down..." part annoyed me because it was kind of obvious what you do with it.

I remember seeing this commercial watching "Captain Kangaroo".. One thing I noticed later was that the commercial conveniently edited out the "crick-crack-crick-crack" sound the thing made/makes.. But then a lot of toy commercials did that; some of them still do! LOL But it still brings back some great memories!

@emulb2001 I remember this commercial! TWEVLE channels? Even with cable, we only had about 12 channels (and at that time, in Seattle, "having cable" meant "getting better reception of the local channels, plus the VHF statuions from Vancouver and VIctoria, and the UHF stations from Tacoma"). Using the antenna, we had 6.
@GregoryBurt1 Жыл бұрын
I grew up across the border in Victoria, BC, Canada. We had 3? channels, with our huge antenna. CBC, CHEK, and KVOS12 (Bellingham) It was an amazing time and place to grow up in. :>)

Monto, it haunts me too..I remember hearing many loud sirens one summer day in 1972, and shortly after seeing this commercial on TV,a man came to my next door neighbor's house to tell them that one of their kids had been struck by a car while riding her bicycle, and was critically injured...I can still see my Mother trying to calm the frantic Mother of the girl...this tune always reminds me of that fateful day...

@UglyGirlSingsGood I remember when I used to pick up my friend to walk to school and he would always be watching Romper Room. I still remember that lady looking through her magnifying glass and calling out the names of children watching. I always wondered why she never called my name. She always called my friends name :(
@Maldoror211213 жыл бұрын
@emulb2001 I totally agree, but I think it would only work for me if I could have a kid's perspective again. Otherwise, it would be a tease--traveling back to the 70's and having my childlike form while also having an adult mind and sensibilities under the young exterior. Like William S. Burroughs said, "to feel it, you have to BE there." But I'm not 8 years old anymore... I'm 40...
