Vintage King Nashville is amazing! I love that they have the 1608 as the centerpiece of their show room. That is my dream console! Also, having all of that amazing 500 series gear in that same room as well!!! I have been many times! It's always fun to stop by Vintage King!

Warren, thanks for the great tour. That's Candyland for sure! At about 8:05 in the video you are showing the AEA ribbon mics. Since you own the 44 (a great mic!) you kind of brushed over the first one. But if you ever have an opportunity to demo the *AEA KU4* do it! The KU4 is a little different from most ribbons in that it's a Cardioid, but *OMG* I have never heard such a beautiful microphone, at any price, vintage or new. It captures an incredible sense of *realism* and even moreso, it captures a sense of Holographic 3D Space and DEPTH that I've never experienced!....just stunning on Piano, Classical AG, Drum OH & Room, Vocals, HORNS, and STRINGS! Recording Cello and Double Bass using Millennia HV-3D pre's (or AEA's own RPQ2 preamp) dry with no processing will make the hairs stand up on your skin. It's the most ''You Are There in the Live Room" sound that I've ever experienced. Same on Saxophone...it's "scary" real! I play alto & tenor...and drums as well. Might as well stay on the mic topic! :-P Check out Audio-Technica's AT5045. I normally haven't been a huge fan of AT mics, so I only looked into these after hearing that it's one of Al Schmitt's favorite new ''Go-To'' mics for Drum OH's and Acoustic Guitar, among other things. Well obviously, he isn't wrong...they are fantastic! Very low self-noise as well. BTW, I'm also a fan of Lewitt's mics and have the DTP Beat Kit Pro 7 drum package as well as a pair of LCT-550 that all get used on a regular basis. Amazing mics, irregardless of their affordable price. :) And now, because of you, VK, and this video, I really want to try out that Edwards LE-10 all tube stereo mic pre!!! Well, sorry for the long comment! I got a little carried away, haha. Thanks for all you do. The Videos, Interviews, and Information that you share on a daily basis are GOLD! *ThumbsUp!*

wow Vintage King have kii audio speakers now . they are amazing , the best speakers in 10 k range .

Stars Leslie Howard as Mitchell & David Niven as a Test Pilot.. & is well worth tracking down .. hope you are doing marvelously well .. right now I'm working on my drumming .. cheers

Warren: I highly recommend you demo the Retro OP-6: you will most likely fall in love and buy a few. It's basically the RCA OP-6 new. Try putting it through a Chandler Zenar Limiter in Limit mode, for vocals. You will be beside yourself! Let me know what you think. Stu

Hey Warren! Great rundown! So funny, I was just touring through VK Nashville yesterday. I want to upgrade my preamps since I'm only using a presonus firepod right now. I will mostly be recording guitars in my home studio as well as bass, mandolin and vocals. The guys at VK were telling me great things about the Undertone Audio unit. What do you suggest I do for my next step in upgrading my recording rig?

Great video. I don't think there was a single piece of gear there that would not be useful. Of course you have to make your choice, according to your means, and just start making music and having fun.

Im not sure if the audio community uses this term, but in the photo/video world they describe the effects of this video as G.A.S .. which is, gear acquisition syndrome. I find myself pausing to check my bank balance, then i let out a sigh and come back to watch another 5 minutes before checking my balance again.

That's not VK Nashville, that's Heaven! I definitely feel a kinship with the Nashville ethos... Especially Vance Powell (which I know sounds antithetical since he's probably the least classifiable guy there). t's funny how things are. So many people love SSL type compressors on their Mix Bus, and dislike the API 2500 for that application. I'm the exact opposite. I'm a little tired of the SSL and I find it changes the sound dramatically, doing things I don't like and there's very little you can do to mitigate it. I lose too much and don't gain enough. The 2500 on the other hand can be more natural or more characterful depending on how I set it up or hit it, and its sonic imprint is more aligned with my vision more often. Anyways, thanks Warren and VK!
