You’re right about modern lenses. I would like to purchase a few Sigma Art lenses specifically for client work. I’ve done a lot of work within the dentist community, and the high fidelity look of the Sigma Art lenses was appreciated.

"Painterly" is a great descriptive word for the qualities of certain vintage lenses. Certainly not a characteristic we're seeing in modern glass in my opinion. It's an interesting perspective you presented, the idea that our modern lens image in "baked-in" as well. To you point, it feels like modern lenses are always the "safe" option so opting to go vintage has a bit of an implied risk. Thanks for the great insight and I appreciate the comment!

@@TroyMairs I think you come over as a truly genuine person and it easy to not realise how that seems in the context of KZfaq that is fundamentally an influencer driven shop and free advertising for brands selling products. The business model of reviews and promotions means that KZfaqrs are sent equipment and effectively bought off by brands to show case their products despite what they say. Just the fact that you don’t do this and seem to focus on the process of filmmaking albeit featuring gear but gear you use makes the difference alone. There are others who do this too but you seem genuinely a nice guy who clearly knows his stuff. I mean nice though not as an end in itself. You seem to have put so much thought and consideration not just into the programming content but your background sets and in your even tone and use of language. The graphics are a nice touch and for many they just wouldn’t bother. That says a lot too. Despite all this you are self effacing and seem to avoid voicing a strong opinion which in itself shows some discipline. When on set I am always struck by the professionalism of crew and their focus and it’s the exact opposite of what I normally see in KZfaqrs who quite naturally tend to be individualist who have self motivation and self promotion as a prerequisite. That doesn’t make them wrong but it doesn’t make them the kind of people I would want on set or clients facing necessarily. I think it’s easy to be underestimate how important being a solid citizen is in work and in life. The talent and application should be a given. Filmmaking isn’t rocket science and these days practically anyone can produce a good series of images with the cameras and editing resources available now. Demeanour is something much more nuanced and in some people it makes all the difference. Even the slightly corny cooker gag says a lot. I M not trying to expose your psyche as I really have no idea how you are as a person in reality but if this is how you want to present yourself and it does seem genuine then it has an old school charm that reminds of people that actually smile and say good morning to people they pass in the street. Sorry if that’s not making things clearer but your efforts and work is greatly appreciated.
