I bought one with no foot switch. I bought a 4 switch B52 foot switch from a guy on offer up, bought the male and female connectors and wire and made the switch work. It switches from clean to dirty and combined. I’m really happy how it turned out!

Picked mine up for $35 on marketplace a few years ago. Had to replace the tubes, but hey, for $35 I'm not complaining. Sweet amp.

Great stuff.. thanks for sharing... and nice playing.. I have a 1981 Bandit 65 and of course an original 5150 head.. but also the USA made guitars are fantastic.. have a Wolfgang Standard and a Falcon strat.. great quality..

If you don't have the foot switch plugged in, both channels will always be on. You can use a paperclip to short out the channels you want to turn off (check the pinout to make sure you don't do any damage!)

thanks for the info and the view. Had a buddy that owned a renown 400 and would only run one channel minus the footswitch . the paperclip mod sounds interesting and scary at the same time . hahah..I usually just use the volume controls to isolate channels for now. cool old amp and a unique sound with more power than anything I've owned!

Awesome video and review. I stumbled across the exact same amp at a local ma & pa music store a couple months ago. My Heritage VTX amp is a 1982 model. It is in mint condition and even had the original foot switch and amp cover. I plugged into it and holy smoke...you're right, it will untie your shoes. The two channels are great and the built in phaser and reverb effects are very cool too.

It's good to see a few out in the wild. They are getting hard to find now, a great amp, and often overlooked. congratulations on your find, and yes you can keep the neighborhood awake all night if you choose to turn the volume knob.. Thanks for watching, Jake

Funny closing comment! The schematic on back helped explain to me how the foot switch functioned, but that is all i can say, I'm no expert.

Thanks for the view and the kind words. I think I found a footswitch for it at a pawn shop the other day. I was shooting a vid of the shop and didn't notice it until I watched the video when I got back home ..I'm heading back to strike up a deal ..lol. thanks again for the sub and views! Jake

I love that amp. Peavey makes great stuff. I know I shat upon my renoun 400 on between two amps, that was more about me than the amp.

the tube ones like these are really a lot different than the renown etc.. same cab and controls but tube ..it shocked me when I first tried it out ..american iron!

Nice Amp . I have the Peavey Classic VTX . Bought it in 1981 or 82 I think , brand new . I played the crap out of this Amp for years & still break it out from time to time . I play though studio monitors with PC plugins most of the time now . I enjoy Bias FX 2 & the virtual Amps are a lot lighter ...

Dude fuck all the talk about dumbles and all that. If you have never just plugged straight into the front of a peavey vt or vtx amplifier…. That shit is life changing

I completely agree..as you can see I own some old peavey gold in my collection..this thing is packed with tone! I use to play bandits and cheaper peavey amps that did not sound good at all for the most part.. these are different tho, and sound amazing ..I also have a 1974 classic 2x12 ..I was lucky to find them for the price..$240 for both! Cheers, Jake
